Don't shoot me - is this a good price?

For a certified tsavorite, 1.45 ct 6.3x6.25mm, $278

It's ridic Bright Ice. I can't stop myself. Especially now that I've figured out that I actually want a smaller stone with intense color instead of a big honker.

if you are desperate to buy a nicely colored but nonetheless mediocre stone then you should buy it. Otherwise put the money toward setting some of the nice stones you already have, or put it away towards better stones.

I've set what I have. I'm moving onto other projects (when I told myself I wouldn't)

That alone is an unusual feat for a PSer!
The color is nice but the cut is wonky and likely wont fit in a calibrated setting. There is what looks to be a fracture/feather at 12 o'clock.

I actually thought I saw the fracture. Thank goodness I asked.

I agree that it's too wonky. I would be okay with a feather, but the wonkiness is too much.

Ditto this. Wonky and quite noticeable fracture. That's why for a saturated stone, it has that price. I would look around at that price point and see what other tsavs there are.

I know exactly what motivates you to keep looking and consider the stone - its the thrill of the chase and the hunt for a bargain. And what, pray tell, is wrong with that? :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Well, if you want a lopsided, dark stone that's likely to show inclusions then this is the one for you! Fortunately the price reflects the issues and it's not over-priced but personally I'd save my money for something lovelier. Any Tsav over a carat in weight with a good colour and cut is likely to cost more than this.

Ugh, I seriously have the same problem! :( I've promised myself I'm not going to by anymore stones until I set what I have. We'll see how long that lasts :wink2:

As far as the tsavorite, I would save your money and wait for something better. The wonkiness of it is a big turn off for me.
