I''m so frustrated right now, I just don''t know what to do. I thought you ladies would understand:

So I''m taking my college course via the internet due to a lack of transpertation (don''t drive, scared to death of it, weird, I know) and my work schedule. As we all know the years closing in now. I had one test to take this past week along with three finals today, it couldn''t have goen worse. The first test was in math, since I''m in distance learning I''m given a sheet with the problems I must learn to go with the test I must take, so I go to take the first test... turns out I knew NOTHING that was on it because the teacher made a mistake and mixed test 5 and the final up. Basically the sets of problems I was instructed to learn was not correct, therefore I failed the test. When I explained this to the teacher, she understood the error, but refused to let me retake it. It gets worse, so today was the math final, I went to the school to take it only to learn that the teacher, once again, made a mistake and did not attatch the correct charts to the test. I needed the charts to get the info to completet the problems, so i couldnt complete half the test. Next was my Real Estate final which I was to take online, it''s a 3 hour test, I was an hour into it about 55 questions when the whole website just shut down, test and all. I went back to try to access it again but it''s locked and on the grading chart I have a 0. ( this is the ONLY test for the whole class, one test, one grade) So It says I failed that class with 0%. Then since that happened on my lap top I went down to the desktop computer to take my English final, it consisted of 55 short essay questions. I was 10 questions away from being done when I accedently hit the "back" button on the side of my mouse and BAM, that whole thing was gone!!!! Once again it when I tried to reaccess it it was locked and I was given a 0. They teachers WILL NOT reset any test for ANYONE, they all stated that many times before the finals. I just don''t know what to do. I e-mailed them both, but I have a feeling I''m out of luck. I tried so hard this semester, it''s just so hard to believe this could happen :.( Today has been such a horrid day, and to think I''ve been studying like CRAZY for the past three weeks just to blow it like this.... sorry for whining, just had to get it off my chest.

oh... *bighugs*

If I could give you some advice, it would be to first explain (calmly if possible!) to the professors what happened. If you can arrange to meet with them in person or call them and talk on the telephone, you''ll probably have more luck in getting them to compromise.

If they really won''t soften their rules, don''t accept them as the final word! Take the situation to the next level - if you have deans, go see them! Tell them what''s going on and what you think a fair solution would be!

Good luck.. I hope that everything works out for you!

Oh I''m so sorry for you... that is beyond frustrating & so very disheartening!!

I do agree with rfath ~ try to get your professors on the phone or speak with them in person to explain the situations... Perhaps they set some of these policies about resetting so that less honest individuals will not go in and look at the test just to see the questions only to be able to return later to retake the test knowing the answers. You have some very legitimate gripes!!! Especially on your math test & final where you were given the wrong materials ~ the teacher(s) that did that has more responsibility for your grades on those tests than you do!! On the real estate exam ~ surely the school/company has a webmaster or IT person that can verify some kind of service interruption/problem at that time? And I would just explain the back/mouse button problem to your professor ~ we''ve all done something like that (for me, at least 10 times a day!!).

And again, like rfath said, if they will not make some accomodations for you, don''t take their ''no'' as the final answer. Appeal their decisions with the the department head, then the dean, etc.!! Schools are just big bureaucracies (Miriam Webster: a system of administration marked by officialism, red tape, and proliferation; yup sounds like a school to me!!) and sometimes you just have to keep making noise to get someone to help you out ~ saying "no" is typically the easiest and laziest solution for them since most of the time people go away once told "no". If you won''t take no for an answer, then it becomes easier for them to help you out just to get you out of their hair!!

Good luck!!!

PS ~ I usually find screaming while crying to be the most effective and cathartic course of action!!

Bless your heart! That just plain sucks! I know just how you feel with the whole internet thing. I have had the same thing happen to me. If you can prove that your computer or your internet then they will let you redo it. I eneded up getting something from comcast before they let me redo my test and I was in the lab! I am sure that things will work out for the best just dotn take no for an answer. You are working hard and that will show through. *hug* I will pray for you.

Oooh...that sucks! I''m so sorry! But like everyone else said, you have to explore your options. I had an issue when I was at school and the teacher refused to accomodate me so I told her that if I couldnt resolve the situation with her, I''d go to a dean. All of the sudden she became very helpful! go figure! It really helps to know the rules that your school has for dealing with situations like those though, read up in your school guidelines book, they should all be stated pretty clearly. Also get in touch with your adviser and explain the situation, helps to have someone on your side when you''re approaching deans and department chairs.

Good luck & I hope this gets resolved quickly!

I had a *very* good relationship with my dean by the time I graduated from college. Financial Aid and I didn''t really get along and *every* semester I ended up having to call the dean in to let me register for classes after FA had lost my application materials...

I''m not an aggressive person.. it was HARD to pick up the phone or run to the Dean''s office, but I got to the point where I couldn''t accept what people were doing to me. I know it''s not easy, but you''ve got a WHOLE cheering section here to hold your hand and give you encouragement!

Thank you all for being so supportive!! You all were sooo-> sweet!!! I could never even dream up a better bunch of woman!! Well I couldn''t fall asleep last night until 4am because I was worried, but I did wake up to some good news! Two e-mails from my english professor, the first one saying she would not reset the exam but I could take it at the campus, (this was okay news seeing as how if I took it at the campus I would not be able to use any notes, but at least it wouldn''t be a 0/100!). The second one, which was sent about an hour after the first (which i never got a chance to reply to) was saying that she decided to reset it after all! I''d like to think the fact that I worked my butt and had an A in the class up to this point played into her decission. As soon as I he http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk164BNUS http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk164BNUS ard this news I went downstairs and swithched my mouse to the old ball kind with no annoying buttons, redid the exam! After finishing that test I checked my e-mail again and it was from my Real Estate Prof. saying she reset it already, to go ahead and try again!! So I plan on doing that one later tonight. http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk164BNUS Phew!! Maybe it was silly of me to get so worked up, thanks again for all the kind words! http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZNxmk164BNUS

-As for the math, I wrote a note on the back of the final about the correct charts not being included, the test has to be mailed to her, so it will take awhile to hear back about that one!

Glad to hear it all worked out! :) While professors may have their "rules", can''t imagine they would be *that* inflexible when it comes to technology & final exams. Quizes...yes, tests...maybe.
