Done the Homework- please review this diamond

Hello all.

Although I''ve just signed up I''ve lurked here for quite a while and would like your input on this diamond.

Let me just say I''ve seen the diamond in the store and it looks nice but with such a large purchase I''d really appreciate some feedback based on the stats.

It''s 1.53 ct, G, SI1, excellent cut (so says GIA report.) VG polish, and EX sym. 7.37-7.41-4.58.

I put all the numbers into the pricescope cutadvisor (62% depth, 56% table, 34.5° crown angle, 41°) and came up with a score of 1.8.

or diameter for weight Very Good

What do you all think? Based on this info (which granted is limited) what would you all think it''s worth? I''m a little dissapointed that it only scored VG for most of these items when its cut was excellent. I will say as far as I could tell the S1 was eye clean and I looked at it with a loupe and couldn''t really see much there. Any input would be great appreciated.

Based on many posts here if you are 2.0 or under it should be a lovely stone. Can I ask what your budget it? Have you done a price comparison above?

Looks like you might have a winner if all other things add up . . . .

This appears to be a promising diamond, can you ask for an Idealscope image? That would be very useful in evaluating this stone.

Thanks for everyones comments. I''m not sure if I can get this image from the jeweler but I do plan to goto an independent appraiser after I''ve selected my diamond.

My budget isn''t completely set but I''m looking for a nice diamond at pretty good value. I saw an H at the same size and this one definitely looked nicer to me (both were excellent cuts and SI1.)

It seems like it will be a great stone. Don''t worry too much about it only receiving very good ratings on the HCA, it can still be a fantastic performer. But, to say whether it is a good deal or not we would need to know more about your budget. For example it would be a pretty good buy for under $12,000-$13,000 but if the pricetag is $15,000+ I think you could find a better value.

I''m not sure about the price, but the stone itself seems like it could be a great one. If you''ve already seen it in person, then you know better than us anyway, but there are no red flags for me. Enjoy!

It''s at a local jeweler in nyc for under $12,000. It does look very nice in person but I''m definitely no diamond expert. The only downside is they have no return policy but they did agree to let me take it to an appraiser before the sale is final. I looked at the pricescope price comparison and it looked like a pretty good deal. I was just worried that the test only gave it a 1.8 and mostly scores of VG.

If it makes you feel better, the ring I ended up getting scored a 2.6, I think, on the HCA with all of them VG. I love this diamond and in my opinion, it out performed a couple of AGS000 stones that I had it sitting next to that all scored under 2. A 1.8 on the HCA should be nothing to worry about it. If you love the way the diamond looks to you, that''s all that matters. It sounds like a good price, so I''d buy it, get it appraised and be happy!

The diamond sounds good and I am sure that you will love it but sometimes we need a little reassurance and this is why we have appraisers. Have it appraised and enjoy the diamond.

Saints, I''m glad you asked this question, because i was wondering the same thing in my case. Think i''m going to do the same. I have no idea what she would want for a setting! LOL
