The pics are pretty graphic, and you can''t see the whole of it, he looks soooo bad poor fella. He spent the night in the emergency vet and it was several hundred dollars later that he came home. He''ll be okay physcially but I''m sure it has freaked him out emotionally. He''s playing it out for all it worth and I feel terrible for this guy, he''s my boy, and I''ve had him for 5 years, he''s 6 years old. He''s a rescued Pit bull that has been a momma''s boy since the day I brought him home. He does not fight, he is not aggressive, he''s been a wonderful companion. We have 3 dogs, and a cat that get along well.

The other night my boy was ambushed in our yard by 3 large stray dogs that have formed a feral pack. I''d called to have them picked up a month ago but rarely see them now. I had hoped they were gone. Our large yard is not fenced because we''re still doing too much work to fence it in but we do have a fenced area for the dogs. We have 3, two of them spend they''re days in that and this one spends his days in the house. When I get home I let him out, he won''t leave the yard, I get the leashes then walk the other two back into the house. Hooch is not leashed for this little event, he is completely voice command trained.

Unfortunately I had no idea that those dogs had come into the yard and were around the house on the other side. I was just inside getting the leashes when I heard this horrible whine....then I heard the ruckus, I don''t even know how to describe it. I knew Hooch was being attacked but I couldn''t see it happening because they were around the corner. I''m screaming for him and I''m totally in a panic, BAD. I keep a big rolling pin type of thing by the door so I reached inside for it (not knowing what I''d do with it). Then as I went back out he was running for me with the 3 dogs at his heals......scared completely.

Inside I coulds see he was smeared with blood all over his coat. I couldn''t even see all the bites on him as I cleaned the blood off. He was shaking and was breathing rapidly, but completely fine with me handling him and washing him off. I called husband who had the truck so I could take the poor fella to the vet. They were really awesome and took great care of him but unfortunately they seem to think that it was my other dogs that attacked him.....definitely not. I had this fear that now I going to be reported for something on top of it all.

When they brought him out to me I had no idea he was my dog! I saw him and thought "oh, that poor dog"....then realized that he was mine! They had to shave huge patches of fur off to see all his bites, he has stitches all over but overall he''s going to be fine thankfully. I was really concerned about infection since those dogs are running wild. It''s really a problem here too. I have the 2 other dogs because they were strays pups that had been dumped. They''ve turned into really great companions as well and the 3 dogs get along so well.

Animal control came out later that day and set traps, hopefully they''ll be able to get them off the street, they''re dangerous. That could have been a much worse scenerio, a child could have been involved. I wish people would be more responsible and not dump unwanted animals.

The fence guys have been back out, we''re having another fenced area (kennel) put up and they''re also going to fence in our property now too. I''ll feel safer for myself and my animals if we do that now.

This only shows part of what he has.

awww cns...the pictures don''t look too bad but it''s probably because he was cleaned up. so sorry that you and the pup have to go through this. hope he heals very quickly and his beautiful fur grows back.

Oh, that poor guy

That''s pretty scary, but I''m glad he came out of it relatively okay. Imagine if some let their kid go into the yard. I hope animal control finds the pack. Take care of yourself and your baby while he''s healing. Lots of doggie treats.

Poor little Hooch. I can''t imagine how scared you were. I''m glad he is okay.

Oh, poor guy.... I hope he heals quickly! And I hope the city catches the pack soon! We had a pack of wild dogs in our area when I was a kid and they tore my beloved cat almost apart. My mom and the vet helped keep him alive, but it was so traumatic. I''m so glad you were nearby when this happened, but be vigilant about yourself too!

I almost cried as I was reading your post. I have 2 dogs of my own so I kept putting myself in your shoes as I read. Thank goodness your baby is OK. I have similar issues with dogs in my area, and even a neighbor with 2 nasty dogs that she doesn''t keep fenced or contained at all. A small dog in the neighborhood once got out and wandered over to my neighbor''s place and her dogs killed it

I''m now very nervous about my babies because her dogs are constantly wandering onto my property. Thankfully I have lots of fenced area that will hopefully keep everyone separate, but you never know. Again, thank goodness your dog is going to be OK

Poor baby. What a sweet dog. I hope that the steps you have taken will solve the problem, because it is horrible for that boy to feel the least bit scared to be on his own property.

That is terrible! Please give him lots of extra hugs from PS'ers. You are so right, this could have been a child that was attacked and probably would have stood no chance. Irresponsible people again, responsible for unnecessary violence.

I am so sorry.
I have a suggestion for people who have a problem with aggrsive dogs with bad owners. If they hurt your animal, sue them. I know it sounds stupid, but unless the dogs seriously hurt a person or kill a horse (because they are expensive) the law can only give them a slap on the wrist and it is usually a lot less work for them to pay the fine than properly handle their dogs. If you sue for medical bills, lawyer''s fees and especially punitive damages you might be able to change things. Punitive damages are like emotional suffering and those can run into the 10s of thousands of dollars. Most bad owners would rather settle and agree to fix the conditions than pay that kind of money. You have to do what the police can''t, make it more painful for them to be bad owners than good ones.

Oh, what a poor little buddy! I''m glad he''s okay! That must have been terrifying for you and him!

Thank you for all the concern, he''s doing much better tonight after lots of sleeping on the sofa today. He''s been my buddy all day, hardly leaves my side, he even curled up with DH while we watched movies. It''s been rainy so it''s been easy to keep the "guys" all inside. I have not seen the strays today thankfully.

Unfortunately in our case, there is no one to sue. These dogs that attacked Hooch were strays that were dumped in the area. These are the worst kind of owners, the ones that really dont care at all about what happens to the animals once they''re put out. These dogs are now in survival mode, they''ve formed a pack, and essentially "hunt" the neighborhoods looking for food. It''s really sad but unfortunately they''ve become dangerous. I''m just glad that my boy is going to be okay.

Meanwhile, we''re fencing our place in completely, that should begine sometime next week.

S.S.S is the answer.
shoot shovel shut up (tell no one)

Poor little fella. I hope those dogs are caught quickly so you can relax again.

Poor little guy, he must have been so scared
