Does your jewellery get admired?

There are some stunning pieces and collections on PS. Does your jewellery get admired by people? I don’t have anything extravagant, a lot of smaller pieces that are interesting or unique, but my jewellery always seems to get admired. Even my costume stuff gets a look and a comment. I love jewellery, so it’s fun to discuss, even with complete strangers.

Occasionally. I had a woman once grab my hand from the other side of the salad bar at the local grocery store to ask about my ER.

I have an opal necklace and that seems to get the most compliments but then if their eyes drift to my hand we end up talking about the ring.

In the winter I have a paste snowflake that was my great grandmothers, so pre-WWII maybe older. It is lovely, I will have to post a photo at some point, but everyone wants to know if it is real and while I say it is paste (or explain) I get these "yeah right " looks. too funny.

Best/interesting observation was returning to the US from abroad and the Customs officer asked if I needed to declare "that, since it practically declared itself". My husband then proceeded to get into a conversation about how I needed something proportional to my hand and apparently a 747. sigh.

Only once in awhile and mostly only when I share it online. People rarely notice it IRL. But I assume it's because what I wear is pretty commonly seen and small on top of it. The slightly more unique piece is my black diamond wedding ring from my husband that I got more input on but I think its too strange looking for most people. Which is fine. I don't wear it for others to compliment. I wear it because I like it, or in the case of my engagement ring, it was given in love :)

Yes, in real life my jewelry gets commented on/admired pretty frequently by strangers. I’m assuming people who know me don’t really count since they know I’m into jewelry and are thus more likely to comment, just like anyone would be more likely to comment on a friend’s interests. Having strangers grab my hand to look at my rings is not an uncommon experience though I wish it was, lol. I think colored stones get way more attention than white diamonds - I’ve only ever had friends comment on diamond pieces.

My wedding set often gets compliments, yes. A pear cut is unusual around these here. Mostly I get comments from ladies at check out areas when I go to use my card, as my hands will be right in front of their faces.

Yes my jewelry does get admired from earrings to rings and that is all I generally wear. Earrings and rings. It seems no matter what rings I wear they get compliments. From Bubbalah to the Cartier Black Opal to my newest addition the moissanite AVC cut ring. The most recent compliment came from the optician who was adjusting my new sunglasses. She was mesmerized by the AVC moissanite and said wow what kind of diamond is that? It's so sparkly and gorgeous. (It really is). But I digress.

Yes I get bling compliments but I also get boot compliments and clothing compliments as often so not sure what that means. In fact our veterinarian kept going on about how gorgeous my boots are and not a day goes by that I am around other people wearing my boots that I don't get positive comments about them. Same for my clothing and many positive comments about my jewelry too.

Maybe people are just being complimentary and very nice and kind. I will add when I see something I admire I am vocal about it as well.

Maybe people who are open and friendly get more compliments because we are more approachable? I know when I compliment someone's jewelry or something else it is because I think it will be taken in the positive light I mean it to be. If someone seems less approachable I won't say anything because I don't want anyone to be offended or insulted and if I cannot "read" how someone will react I won't say anything.

Yikes, I wouldn't like that at all. I think that only happened once to me where someone grabbed my hand to admire my ring. Not OK. Nope. Don't touch me if you don't know me please. Personal space is critical. And don't dare touch my diamonds!:o

Thanks @Daisys and Diamonds it is probably my favorite piece real or not. Granted one stone is cloudy and another I need to re-take but from a distance it does make a good show. I just love that I can wear something. On my collar that my GG did, I have nothing else from her and my grandmother had tiny hands so I can't enjoy her rings.

Just recently, someone who is an acquaintance, grabbed my hand and said Wow at Bella and asked about her.

While we were on a cruise in the summer, a fellow male passenger told me he had seen me sparkling all round the ship and wanted to look at Bella and Marilyn more closely

Yes, and a few weeks ago a lady nearly ripped her head off... it was so funny...it looked like she was following a bee or something because I had my aqua ring on and I was talking with my hands and she was zoned in and I thought she was going to get whiplash following the ring.

I have to admit I enjoyed that immensely.

My CBI 2 stone with sapphire gets comments all the time, both for the scintillation of the diamonds and the color of the sapphire.

Yes, but only here on PS as I don’t really go out all that much (I know...sad, right?).

However, when I do, I catch the occasional glance directed at my ring finger. They’re probably debating if it’s real or not:lol:

I have a very modern aquamarine pendant that gets the most notice out of all of my jewelry. (Unless you count a former neighbour, who inventories everyone's jewelry all the time to ask, "Is that real???").

I find that my necklaces get noticed, more than anything else.
When talking to people, they may not look at your hands, but they do look at your face!
