I love how this question illustrates how different our views are on justifiable costs and what is more valuable, cars or jewelry. AND, how relative a term like ''expensive'' really is. Or ''affordable'' for that matter.

I''d have no problem wearing a ring that costs more than my car. As long as the car is reliable and safe, I''m happy to drive it, it certainly doesn''t have to be beautiful or luxurious. However, I''m not going to put just any round piece of metal on my finger because it functions as well as any other ting! I like my jewelry beautiful and my cars reliable.
You have such a better way with words then I do!

I was holding off on answering this thread because I was wondering what people felt they should answer... is it cooler to have a ring that cost more than your car, old or new... or better to have a good car? Interesting answers. I also like how some answers are based on when it was new or how much it''s worth now etc etc. Is it more flashy to have a pricey ring or a pricey car? Just wondering!

Okay so my answer is when my car was new it was twice as much as my ring. It''s five years old now and it''s worth less than my ring. Ta da! And I got my car because it was reliable. I spent so many years repairing my car I wanted whatever consumer reports rated high! So far it''s run like a champ! Well worth it.
