So I posted in the past about settings and I think what I have decided to do is this. After constant searching, speaking with people, visiting local stores, looking at stones online, I have decided that I would like to purchase from White Flash in September. The setting was a concern in the past but I think what I will do is just get a great looking stone and put it in the cheapest setting they have. Then she can decide more on what she wants exactly. I would like to get some of your opinions on a few stones, I have selected these 3 from White Flash, http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/compare.aspx?idnos=2813912,2813903,2794548 Out of these three I think I would end up purchasing the 1st one on the left. To me the inclusions are a lot easier to see on the other two. Can I get some other opinions on which of the 3 would be the best choice? I would like to stay under $5,000 with the cheap setting they have. I am trying to see if any of the knowledge I have gained this year has paid of in trying to find the perfect stone for my budget. I have not reserved any of these stones but it is OK since I won't purchase for another couple months.

Thanks in advance

They're beautiful. They're all AGS0, so you shouldn't have to worry about light performance. They're also all VS2 -- I wouldn't be worried about seeing inclusions. Based on what others have said, you could probably drop down to SI1 or even SI2 if you asked WhiteFlash to examine the stones and get more carat size for your money, if that's a concern.

I would warn you about posting stones for comparison on PriceScope if you're not intending to buy for several more months. If you look down at the bottom of the forum, right now there are 113 registered users and 803 guests online. Those 803 guests are browsing the forums and have been known to "snipe" stones that are posted for review before they're reserved. Also, virtual inventory changes quite rapidly, it seems, so these particular three diamonds may not be available when you intend to buy, if you have your heart set on one now.

Thanks, it is okay if they take them, I posted them more to get others opinions to make sure I am looking for the right things in a stone. Do you think the H color would be ok or should I go up? I saw an E next to an I and of course I could tell the difference but I think the H should be ok with normal using and not holding it next to a whiter stone.
I think that when I am looking at SI1 on the magnified pics I can see the inclusions but they may be very small and not able to see normaly? I am just afraid to get SI1 and then will be looking for the inclusion always

We call my son Big H (for Big Henry)--so I had to come out of lurkdom!

Whiteflash has beautiful diamonds. My diamond is from Whiteflash. 1.5/I/VS2. You won't be disappointed!

If you have your heart set on one of these stones, and you can put it on hold, could you pay off the diamond over time? (I admit, I've never looked into that, so not sure if WF even offers that option, but sometimes--- a little chat about different options, often results in a plan that works for both sides!!)

I like your thinking - invest more in the diamond and purchase a simpler, cost effective setting. Upgrade when you have the finances to do so.

I could buy it now if I really wanted but I want to give it to we for her birthday in october. Don't want to buy until then invade she wants to change something so I would still be in the 30day period. I have been looking at all the different options and local stores for a few months already. I just want to learn all I can and do the most research I can prior to purchasing.

Ah, I see. Well, if you really like one of these stones, you could advise WF it won't be until October and have the 30 day exchange start from her birthday forward, if they'd agree to that.

Its a good plan you have, to focus on the best cut diamond you can afford, in a simple setting (not necessarily the cheapest ;)) ). Then if she wants to change the setting, she can be involved in that process after.

I think you are wise to do as much research as possible and get all sorts of knowledge up your sleeve first, so you can spend well within your budget! Great planning, BH!

I'm not sure if your interested or not, but WF offers a 90 day flex pay program. You have 90 days to pay off the stone and then the 30 day return period would begin once they ship the stone to you after your final payment. This may be a great option since her bday is in Oct. Just thought I'd throw that out there. =) Congrats BH, I remember your initial threads, and it looks like you've been doing your homework. All three stones look great! And I think that your really smart to consider the 30 day return period and making your purchase accordingly!

Well congratulations on that decision, Big Henry!!! Very exciting - look forward to an update -- and perhaps a link to the setting selection?? :naughty:

This is the setting for now http://www.whiteflash.com/engagement-rings/solitaire/4-prong-tiffany-style-solitaire-engagement-ring-587.htm Every time we looked around before she would always pick a new setting and the design changed so I figured it would be easier this way then she will get the exact setting she wants.

 There is safety in your plan, that's for sure!! Good choice - classic and timeless, can't go wrong with that! :appl:

:appl: Yah!! I'm so excited for you! No more diamond stress...just the pressure of the proposal! Got any big ideas or are you going to keep it quiet and personal? Your diamond looks amazing btw. You worked really hard, and it paid off! Congrats!

Not really anything big or fancy, it's not really our style. She keeps asking for me to get her an Ipad since she pretty much took mine over so maybe I will just put it in my old Ipad box and give it to her lol. She knows that I am going to get her a ring sooner or later she just doesn't know when so it's not like it would be totally out of nowhere

I think the ipad box sounds perfect! She may be thinking in the back of her mind that it's coming on your anniversary, but if you wrap up the box and leave it somewhere that she will see it, it will totally throw her off. Try to get it to weigh about the same as an ipad, so if she picks it up or rattles it around she will be more convinced. I think that you should take the ring out of the box too, then when she opens the package and then the empty ring box, when she looks up confused, you can be down on bended knee with the ring in your hands. :appl: I think it will be perfect and I'm so excited for you. Don't forget to post pics of the ring for us when you get it!! Congrats Big H, I'm really excited for you!! :appl:

oh I see what your saying. I was thinking just make the inside of iPad box similar to inside of ring box. Sort of like a giant ring box. I doubt she expects anything at all since we have never celebrated anniversaries. She probably doesn't even know the day we made it "official". Neither do I really but I am pretty sure it was the 24th or 25th give or take a few days lol

 That's funny, DH and I could never remember when we started dating either, we just knew it was around the 12th so we just started celebrating on the 12th. Worked for us! Can't wait to hear how it all works out!

Also I might add that neither of us are very traditional when it comes to this type of thing. Big church wedding would never happen, probably just a drive down to the court house or a little bs chapel in Vegas for a few hundred type of thing at most

Fun - do the Vegas thing!!! You could be married by Elvis!! lol

I agree with Christina - you have to make the iPad box feel like the weight it would normally feel like - you can still line it all fancy like a jewellry box, but def it has to 'feel heavy'.

Cool plan!

OH!! I'm so jealous!! I love love LOVE LV!!! :appl: :appl:

Can't get enough of that fun place -- but that's cuz I'm a tourist. It must be totally different as a resident. Was just there in June for our 27th anniversary and I'm taking my 2nd son on a trip in November - just the 2 of us! I'm quite excited to take him --- maybe we can meet - and your FI can show off her ring in person! :appl:

yeah that would be fun!!
It is a lot different when you live here, I very rarely visit the strip. Usually just when visitors are in town or to catch a show

Well...maybe in November, you can make a trip to the strip! I'll post closer to the trip - see if maybe other PS'ers may be in town that week!! Sunday Nov 11 - Thurs Nov 15th (we fly home in the afternoon, I think)

This just in, trying for a Saturday delivery
