I really want to get some opinions on this diamond. I posted it before but only got two responses. We bought it on Whiteflash and it is coming next week. Can anyone just scan the specs and let me know what they think? We got it for $3500, which seems pretty good. I think the dimensions are good too, since it will look bigger than one carat. thanks!!

Has WF seen it yet? They''d be the best ones to advise you whether it is a good princess. Most of us are more familiar with round brilliant measurements, so that is why you aren''t getting many replies. In addition, EGL certs are not as favored around here, so I''d definitely talk to WF and have them examine the stone and talk to you about it before having it sent to you.

It seems like a very nice stone. The measurements are great, perfect squer. The rest looks good too. I believe that the SI1 will be fine also, in Princess cut it''s hard to see the inclusion even SI2. So, I think you should be glad, you got a great deal. BTW, EGL are fine. GIA stones are expensive with no reason. After all, all diamonds are coming from the "same place", mother earth.

Sorry but what you said is oh so wrong!
First off, all diamond reports should be double checked. Labs do make mistake. We have seen EGL, GIA, AGS and IGI misgraded stones. Things like that just happen. If the issuer of the cert is EGL Israel or Antwerp, saying it is fine is quite a risk. I suggest you run a search and have a look at past posts concerning these labs. Not long ago a poster stated EGL Israel was 2 grades off in color and 2 in clarity.
GIA stones are expensive for a reason... Though EGL papers can really be accurate, I assure you will find a much higher percentage of dead-on GIA reports than EGL ones. I am especially talking about the overseas lab. EGL USA is a different company, privately owned and with a fairly different reputation.

That said, supposing the stone is accurately graded, the posted might have gotten a really good deal. We would really need more info, such as idealscope images and sarin data. Let us know what you think when you get it!

I''m going to have to disagree as well. I''d be wary to go below VS2 in a princess, you might find and eye clean SI stone but a princess will show inclusions easier than a round. EGL "can" be a value when they are accurate but EGL Israel is known for being off. EGL USA isn''t quite as bad. Most of the good stones you can get a glowing report from GIA or AGS will be sent there. I personally would not buy a stone that didn''t have a GIA or AGS cert and actual sought out and purchased and AGS stone b/c they are the most strict in their grading with actual numbers listed, no rounding of the angles.

Definitely check with WF on the stone. Do keep in mind that EGL do not qualify for WF''s tradeup program if that''s important. That fact alone tells me that GIA and AGS are more highly regarded since WF will take them back
