Here it is:

http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Diamond_Details.aspx?idno=2219627

Whiteflash seem to be short of G vs2 / si1 diamonds in the 1.25 carat range at the mo and any of the previous ones that I''ve selected have been sold before bf had a chance to put a deposit down :-( . This is the only one that seems to appeal to me by the numbers but in the 40x image there seem to be quite a few scratches compared to other si1''s i''ve seen... This is what WF said about it...

"completely eyeclean from 8-10 inches from the top view with 20/20 vision however if inspected one might be able to find inclusions at 6" and from the side."

I am putting the diamond into a halo setting so this may be masked, but is it a good idea to buy a diamond like this?? Or should I wait 3-6 weeks for them to get more stock?

Thanks!!
Manisha

Hi Manisha

Its a great diamond, as to the '' eyecleanliness'' it very much depends on your comfort level. It is commonplace to be able to see inclusions in SI grades, especially from the side in some cases but there are eyeclean SI1 and SI2 out there. If you are ok with the description of the inclusions then it could be fine, also ask WF to see if any inclusions would be masked due to the halo setting you want.

It looks like this wont be eyeclean from the side, though a halo may cover it.

Inclusions do bother me, so I wouldn''t go for it myself. I tend to inspect other people''s rings quite close up, and can spot inclusions very quickly.

However, you have your own comfort level, so stick to it.

Its important to remember that if your are sensitive to inclusions, and you know where they are, then your eye can keep being drawn to them over and over again....this may not be what you want! Others will see the inclusions as a mark of their own unique stone. You decide what your own attitude to inclusions are!

good luck!

ps I hear you are in the UK: did you go and see dr indira merchant at best diamonds? If so, how did it go?

Personally if it were me, I would wait till one came in that is more eye-clean. This is something you will have
for a very long time and I think it would be worthwhile to holdout.

Hi Manisha, You''ve been awfully picky throughout this process, so while I think the stone will be beautiful, just knowing the inclusions are there and there''s a slight chance they might be visible will bother you. I''d wait until you can get exactly what you want (a more eyeclean G SI1)...

Hehe - awfully picky! I must be a nightmare customer!!! ;-) I agree the last diamond i selected you couldnt see any inclusions and was a safe bet (my didn''t put a deposit down in time though!) - whilst i think the halo would mask this one I think I better hold out until I see something else that catches my eye... argh. :-(

Thanks for your advice everyone!

hi mani5ha!

I might be going to see her about a cushion, but i haven''t made an appointment yet. Glad to hear you got on.

yes, you might be picky, but i think you should be. you have to look at this ring for the rest of your life.

Hang on, the right stone will turn up!

Mani if you are concerned about SI clarity, then it might be best to wait for VS or up. WF might know of one in the pipeline if you ask them. Also you are NOT a nightmare customer, with a purchase of this magnitude you want to get it right!

manisha, You''re not a nightmare customer at all! Just a savvy customer who wants to get exactly what they want in their purchase and get the best bang for their buck (I''m the same way)

Haha! thanks! I thought i was starting to get really picky but I guess I just want it to be perfect, especially because I won''t see it inperson!! :-)

Lorelei - I''m not really concerned about si1 clarity - i''ve chosen si1 so that I can get the size that I want and within budget. The last one I selected was seen to be a good si1 because you couldnt really see the inclusions unless you looked hard... so i''m putting a lot of faith in WF to select me a si1 that would be eyeclean from 8-10 inches all over really.......

I would wait. I don''t like to see inclusions upon closer inspction. Are you near sighted? I am, and it means that I have to be more strict with clarity than a far sighted or normal visioned person. I don''t like seeing inclusions at all *wit hthe naked eye*. But there are lots of of Si1''s out there that are clean. Waiting 3-4 weeks is nothing when you think about how much you are spending and how difficult it will be to trade in if you are unhappy.
