Does this princess look good? It doesn''t have any shinyness to me.

I just bought this ring from WF and I dont like how it''s not shiny or sparkly. Can you advise what I should do?

Hi Lakers,

Do you actually have the ring in your possession?

Hi lakers,

This is a nicely cut stone, it should be sparkley. I have a suggestion, before contacting WF to discuss it with them. (you have a 10 day return period). Sometimes, things get shipped without being cleaned first, it happens. In fact, I recieved a pair of studs once that still had what I believed to be polishing compound still on them. They were well cut, I knew what they should look like, but they didn''t. I gave them a good scrubbing, and voila, all better. So I would recommend giving it a nice gentle scrub with a soft toothbrush and some hot soapy water. I use Dawn dish detergent. Then rinse well and dry. See if that helps.

yes. here is the actual pic.

Thanks. I will give it a good scrub tonight and see how it turns out.

Hm. Looks like there is not much "sparkle" in the photo because of lighting. My stone, while not as well cut as yours, looks better in certain lighting, and not the greatest in other lighting. Could this be it?

You''re welcome. And be sure to scrub the bottoms of the stones as well, as much as you can.

Ditto - give it a good clean then see what you think.

I was hoping to be amazed when I opened the ring to see it in my car. But it was dull even in the day light. maybe because it was cloudy. I''m not sure.

Diamonds don''t sparkle all the time, and fancy shapes are no exception - it very much depends on the available lighting that the diamond has to work with. Check the ring out in as many different lights as you can to get a good feel for it''s personality.

That will make a difference, even with a round, which are terribly sparkley stones.

You have given me another thought by this last post. Many read on here about how amazing well cut stones are. They get so psyched up, purchaes one, get it home, and go, what's the big deal? They practically expect fireworks to go off when they open the box.

Cloudy days are better for seeing a stones whiteness/brightness. Indoor house lighting, for the most part, doesn't do a lot either, though some will. Sun, and various lighting should send it sparkling. I would imagine part, if not all of the problem here, is that you haven't gotten it in enough lighting situations to see what it can do. Take your ring on a field trip, in all kinds of lighting situations, and see what happens.

Restaurants, grocery stores, elevators with spot lighting, and sun, just to name a few, are good places.

But do clean it as well.

Diamonds sparkle in direct lighting, sitting in the shade of a car on a cloudy day is not condusive to any stone sparkling. I predict wonderful things when you see it in sunlight and incandescent light. Fluorescent lighting will sparkle a little, but not like incandescent lighting.

From the ASET I know that to be an absolutely sparkly diamond, when you see it in the right light you will too.

Well I gave it a good cleaning yesterday and it turned out real nice. Cleaning it and looking at it in sunlight made a big difference. I am happy with it now. Thanks everyone. Now I need to bring some nice diamond friendly lighting into my place.[:)
