I am browsing for RBs or ovals as a possible center stone for an e-ring upgrade in the next year. I am finding that promising ovals are tricky to find! I did find this one on Blue Nile and would love any opinions on it:
2.80 carat F VS2, GIA certed (cert on Blue Nile, don't know how to do a link!)
11.03x8.01x4.83
sym VG
pol G
culet none
FL: med. blue
girdle" slightly thick -thick, faceted
depth 60.8
table 57
1.38 length/width ratio
Cut grade listed: Very Good
$34,266
I can barely see anything in terms of inclusions on the diamond diagram on the GIA cert...
Any major red flags? My main concerns are: the "good" polish rating (though I am unsure of how serious an issue this is), the medium blue Flouro (unsure as to what MB fluoro might look in an F color stone), and the girdle: SL Thick to Thick (is that troublesome in any way?)
One other thing I'll mention is that I have noticed on Pricescope that this stone is only listed under Blue Nile, while many other stones pop up under several vendor names. Does this indicate anything negative -- such as that the stone is likely to have problems and was therefore not chosen for listing by many vendors?
To you "pros" out there -- are there any specific things to look for when shopping for ovals?
Any advice/input would be appreciated...
