Hi. I'm looking for a 2 carat plus rbc as an upgrade for my anniversary. Please share your thoughts on this one:

2.65 F/VS2 (8.86 x 8.91 x 5.52 mm)

AGS ideal
Table 55.4%
Depth 62.1
CA 35.1
PA 40.9
culet pointed
fl none
HCA 2.2 very good

I really want an ideal cut diamond. Do you think the CA being off by .1 makes a real difference? Will this diamond look just as brilliant as an HCA diamond under 2?

I'm trading up with the vendor who has this stone. They don't offer idealscope or assets.

Thank you!

The numbers on both AGS and GIA lab reports are rounded. What that means is the crown angle and pavilion angle numbers are only a representation of the *actual* angles of each of the facets that are included in those averages. So in the context of an average, a .1 deviation from "ideal" is small enough to be pretty much meaningless. If you're just going by the numbers, that is. But the numbers on the lab report do not show the quality of the cut (cut precision) and how well the angles and proportions work together as a whole. But your eyes can tell you that. Does the diamond show uniform sparkle, with no dead or dull spots, under various lighting conditions? Does the diamond show edge-to-edge brightness with no dull or dead spots along the outer edge of the stone? And does the diamond look bright in the center with no dull or dark ring or dead areas near the center of the stone?

Have you seen the stone in person? In various lighting and angles? Honestly, if you are working with this vendor, and the HCA is 2.2 which is pretty close- and some argue that if under 3 and a good deal is a good stone as well- then this may be a great option for you. You are the one wearing this stone on your hand- so how do you feel about it?>
