Hey since you girls have such good taste I thought I''d ask. I know nothing of hair pins/combs.

This is the inspiration for my hair style. Below I will post the comb I am looking at, do you think they will work together. I am looking at smaller ones since they are cheaper, my head is smallish, and my hair is pretty thin. Do you think I should be looking at bigger ones? I don''t have as much hair as the picture so I think the chignon-looking part will be a lot smaller.

Lastly, I want a hair comb because I am only wearing earrings, no other jewelry and I want to feel dressed up. But do you think the comb is too matchy-matchy with my earrings or do they compliment them?

The hairstyle:

I think the hair pins coordinate nicely with your earrings. However, the pin might be a little small for that hairstyle. It kinda seems out of place there alone. Could you maybe accent it with a few single rhinestone pins?

ETA: It might be the shape of the pin that makes it stand out to me, not necessarily the size. I think a shape that follows the curve of your head would fit better.

Thanks Sabine, yeah, I think I need to keep looking.

Hi mia...

I think Sabine makes a good point (probably one I wouldn't have noticed if she hadn't said it though)...

But to answer your original question, yes, I think they're too matchy-matchy together...maybe it's the shape that's too similar or it's that there's a lot of "bling" in both, I'm not sure...

ETA - who's the cutie in your avatar?

Yeah claudinam, unfortunately I get really excited when I find something that matches, but I really don''t want to overdo it. Do you like this one better? I am just having a hard time finding something under $50

Oh, My avatar is my Pug Oliver. It was taken on my old (low quality) cameraphone so it''s hard to see but it''s the moment when we go for a walk and he stops dead in his tracks like"Okay, that''s it, I''m done." It cracks me up every time! I pull the leash and his skin and rolls come forward around his face, but he doesn''t budge!

ahhaha what a cutie pie! And I like the avatar even more now that I know he''s giving you attitude! haha

I do like that better...but I''m not sure how it would be placed in the original hairstyle you posted?

Would you like something like this? It''s what I''ll probably do (very inexpensive got them at Icing). Something that comes out like this would allow you to do whatever you want for the earrings...

Oh yeah I like those!

Icing? Really? Those are really cute. I was in Claire''s the other day, but they only had a few bridal combs/pins. I''ll check out Icing next. I just really don''t want spend a lot on "something I''ll only wear once." I know everyone says that but seriously, I''m eloping and while I want to look pretty I just can''t spend that much.

I like the idea of a larger pin. I think it would balance nicely. Love the hair style by the way!

Yes, they had a few styles of those kinds of pins...those are easy, too, they just stick them in your hair...

I am going to be different and say I like the first hair comb you posted the best. Since you said your hair is thin and your chignon will most likely be quite a bit smaller than the one pictured, I don't think that pin would be to small for the overall look. It's hard to really tell though without seeing photos of you in the hairstyle with the pin (although I know that's not really possible at this point)! I also don't think it's too matchy with your earrings. The outline of the hair comb is more flower petal-like and curvy, whereas your earrings are more straight lines diamond shaped (does that make any sense??) I mean, I can definitely tell that you didn't buy them in a set or anything. They just look well coordinated to me.

I think the second straight hair comb you posted is too different from the earrings- made out of totally different materials- so it wouldn't be my pick. The few smaller hairpins someone posted are nice, but if you really wanted a hair comb, I think you shouldn't give up yet. But, everyone likes differently styles, so I hope in the end you find something that YOU love! Good luck!

ETA: Could you get two of the original combs? Make it look like two flowers next to each other in your hair? Or is that getting too expensive?

havernell - Ok let me try and describe this better. My chignon will probably be closer to the size of the blonde girl''s hair, but it will be curled like the brounette. Do you still think it is the right size? IOW, does it look right on the blonde? I actually think it would look cute if I could get that one and then a little smaller one to go next to it. But, I don''t know if I''ll be able to find something like that.

Do you know if those combs can be put at any angle or if they only go in one direction?

Maybe I just need to see if the company that makes them has a return policy....

I love your earrings! I''ve looked at hair combs online for hours. I finally ended up having a pearl ponytail holder made. I love all your choices, so I''m not giving you my choice just telling you its all very pretty.
