I had a custom setting made for my RB. I wanted a very antique looking ring, and decided on a halo of very small diamonds surrounding a bezel set center stone. I also wanted the bezel to be very thin and milgrained as to look very delicate. When I saw the ring I was suprised by the space between the halo and the center stone. The jeweler told me I either had to get a thick bezel or a space between the bezel and the halo. I love my ring, but I can''t help think the jeweler was lying. Is it ture that there needs to be a space with a thin bezel? The custom setting was also very costly, so I am hoping the jeweler was not taking advantage of me. Thanks!

can you post pictures of it?

I can''t seem to post the picture of it. I have been trying.

Absolutely not. I don''t have a RB, I have an oval, but I custom designed by ring with similar feautures, delicate halo, bezel set, milgrained. I specifically did not want an air line, which is the space your jeweler is talking about. I based my design on the Tiffany Legacy. Here is a pic of my ring, if that helps.

I agree with Metromom (Lovely ring BTW!!)

In many cases jewelers use commercially available "castings".
These come in standards sizes ...ie 6mm, 6.5mm etc.
That would mean a 6.3mm stone would either have to be "squeezed" or set with some air showing.

To avoid this, parts need to be custom made- like Metromom''s ring.
