I popped into a B&M store this weekend because I was in a mall and it was there. I looked at a couple of erings, and told them that my preference is yellow gold or platinum, not white gold. When they asked why I said because I didn''t like the fact that white gold needs the rhodium plating re-done every 12-18 months. They said that platinum also dulls with time and that most platinum rings now also need to be re-plated or at least buffed each year. I was very confused by this. Is it true? Or is this another example of a B&M salesperson with incorrect information for customers?

Buffed/polished, but not plated. It gets a patina, which is VERY different than the yellowing of white gold.

Ditto, it is pretty quick for the jewelry stores to buff/polish it.

Does anyone know an approximate charge to repolish platinum?

NO plating, just polishing. A good thing about platinum, it doesn''t loose any metal. It gets re-distributed.
