Okay, I found the perfect subtle pink earrings today.... so of course I just had to try on my dress to make sure they "went." I snapped a couple of pics and now looking at them I think maybe my dress isn''t the most flattering to my figure.

What do you think? We are eloping so I wanted a simple dress, but we are also having a pro photographer and I don''t want to look fat!

I could probably get another one since I only spent $200 on it, and my fiancee for some reason was a little bummed by that fact when he found out my sister spent $1000 on hers. I guess he doesn''t want me to feel like I had a "cheap" dress. I was happy with my purchase until seeing these pictures. Now I don''t know.

Sorry they are poor quality it was dark in the room.

Not at all!!! I think you look fantastic.

But it sounds like there are other issues in play... How do you feel?

No I don''t think you look fat!

Which is always silly to hear considering I am fat.

I wouldn''t worry about how much you spent or let him worry, what matters is do you like the dress? Do you feel comfortable in it? Is it the pricetag or the dress that is the problem?

Absolutely not!

p.s. Pug love!

Well, everyone "sees" things differently, but you look very thin to me!

I don''t tend to see empire dresses as ''hiding something,'' though, I see them as ''I don''t have to try hard to look amazing.''

What''s important is how it makes you feel and of course, how you like it in pictures... and it sounds like maybe you don''t like how it photographs?

Don''t know what you look like normally, and don''t have any other dress pics for comparison. But I think you look lovely. The price tag is immaterial.

That dress looks stunning on you - you don''t look heavy at all! very very pretty

No way! You look great and very thin!!

You''re crazy, it''s gorgeous on you!

I don''t know... it doesn''t look like I have a waste... But isn''t that how the empire style is? Maybe I''m just not used to the style. I just feel like it looks like I am trying to hide something under there.

I love the empire look though its so romantic, I just want to be able to pull it off. I actually love the dress but it didn''t photograph the same way it looks to me in the mirror. I don''t know...

As for my mention of pricetag, while I love this dress this isn''t the one I would wear if we were having a big wedding. I felt like it was appropriate for a city hall wedding, and we are eloping to save money. So when my fiancee was shocked that I spent so little on the dress it sort of planted a little seed in my head that maybe my dress is "cheap."

EBREE- Awww is yours a puppy? He's soooo cute. I love his little underbite!

Your dress makes you look beautiful.

Or rather, you look beautiful in your dress.

I don''t think you look fat or heavy or anything but thin and effortlessly, elegantly beautiful. However, if YOU don''t feel beautiful in it, then that''s another story. You should feel beautiful in your wedding dress. I''ve said it before on PS--I knew my dress was the one when it made me feel as beautiful as my FI does when he smiles at me from across the room. I hope you feel the same in your dress, you certainly look fabulous in it to me.

Yep I think you hit the nail on the head. I love how the dress feels, it is very comfy and I like how I look in it, in the mirror. But in these pictures it just doesn''t look very flattering. I guess I am really concerned about that point since it will be just the two of us and everyone else will be seeing the pictures. So the pictures are really important to me.

I just read your comment about not looking like you have a waist--I think the charm of an empire cut is in the way it looks when you move. A picture can''t quite capture it, but the empire silhouette (in my opinion) looks so gorgeous and flowy during movement.

Awww! We just have one, Oliver, he''s going on 7! I want more but this little has a whole list of medical issues so we can''t afford another! I definitely want a black one next!

F. Mrs. Polka Dot- What about yours?

You guys just motivated me to change my avatar, to reflect that we too now have a second puggy princess!

Our fawn one, Gracie, we've had for a little over a year and a half now (she will be two years old in June) . We just adopted Chloe, the black one, who is about the same age. It's so nice to see so many pug peopel on PS!

And just to reiterate...I so love that dress! I agree that the flowiness of the empire dress in person makes it so dreamy! :)

Awww I need another pug! My little guy is a grandpa compared to yours! I was just going to tell Ebree she needed to update her avatar!

Thanks for the compliments on the dress. I do love it and I think I''ll keep it. I was really in love with it with the earrings and thats why I started snapping pictures, but then seeing them I wasn''t so impressed.

I''m just going to hope the photographer makes me look good!

Oh hey, Ebree and F.M.P.D.- Do your puggies sleep together? I always see pictures of pugs sleeping together and think its sooo cute.

Mia, I think the dress is absolutely lovely! I think part of what you''re seeing is because of how the pics are taken. The camera is down low, pointed at a mirror...all the angles can shorten you and make it hard to really judge scale properly. In my opinion you have nothing to worry about!

You look fabulous!! If you were "hippy" it would show with an empire waist, but that isn''t the case in the pictures. It''s romantic and dreamy.

Hehe, yes they do! But they also bit each others'' ears and tails when the get fiesty, which is not as cute!

I agree that it looks very flattering and very elegant. And the price doesn''t matter, has your FI seen it on you? Sometimes I look at the picture of me in my dress and have second thoughts... but whenever I put it on I feel amazing! Pictures and mirrors just don''t always do us justice!!

Your look absolutely gorgeous in that dress and very thin.

Linda

Mia, honestly, I''m baffled! You look fantastic in that dress, yes, you have a waist in it, and the flow of it is gorgeous. It makes you look tall, slender, and like a goddess.

Seriously, are we looking at the same photos?

I keep looking for the "fat" photos.

Thats actually a really good point... I won''t let him see it until the day of, so he''s probably picturing a really cheap looking dress. And somehow I let his reaction to the price get to me even though he hasn''t seen it! He will love it though, I just know it.

Thanks everyone, for making me feel sooo much better about this. My dress is definitely a keeper!

I love it - honestly!

I love the dress and I think you look fantastic and THIN in it. It''s not "creating" a waist like other dresses do, but it''s not unflattering to your figure either. I have big hips and kaboose, so I puchased a corset gown to make my wasit tiny and hide my hips.

I say keep it and wear it....my opinion of course!
