megeve started a thread today about buying a pair of beautifully-cut 1.25 carat studs from Brian Gavin.
The idealscope and ASET pics have Brian Gavin's name and a logo.

https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/ordered-my-studs.111047/

I know Brian and Leslie left Whiteflash a few months back.
Apparently now they have a new company that sold these diamonds to megeve.

What is the name of the new company?
Where is their website?
I looked in the PS vendor list and found nothing new.
Does that mean they will they not be a PS vendor?

Anyone know?
Was there an announcement I missed?
Enquiring minds want to know.

Thanks Karl.

So their website is not up yet but somehow megeve bought a pair of substantial diamonds from them.
Maybe he's just selling via email requests or something at this stage.

Hi Moh!!

I'm getting something from them too!! A Pendant Brian designed for me (I'm gonna brag and post my thread because I'm SO FREAKING EXCITED that it's gonna be here in two weeks!!). I just emailed them about things, that's how I got stuff started. They seem pretty far along IRL from the looks of all the projects, just not on the web, I guess. I've been meaning to ask if their new shop is going to have a store front (like GOG) or not (like WF), and keep forgetting (cause everytime I talk to them I'm a little pendant absorbed)

KTRN is also getting a gorgeous band (which is now on my list of things I WANT) from them: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/wax-and-certs-from-briangavindiamonds-for-moms-5-stone-ring.111061/

Moh 10,
Brian''s new company will be honouring his previous company''s ACA trade-in policy, provided that the stones were cut under his watch.

I didn''t knoiw that Harriet (of course I don''t own any ACA''s), that''s really cool!

That is true Harriet. I believe this is the exact policy on that:

We offer a Lifetime Upgrade Policy on certified diamonds only. This does not apply to jewelry that contains diamonds. Apply the original purchase price (less shipping) towards your upgrade and pay the difference.

In addition, we will upgrade any A CUT ABOVE hearts and arrows diamond that was graded between September, 1998 and November, 2008. This includes over 7,000 A CUT ABOVE diamonds that were laser inscribed with the original logo and were graded no later than November 30, 2008. If you have a question as to whether your diamond qualifies, please contact us directly at [email protected]. The upgrade value will be based on current market prices for like Brian Gavin Signature hearts and arrows diamonds.

Upgrades need to include two of the three following variables - size, color and clarity.

That is awesome! I have two places I can upgrade my diamond studs at :-).

Gyspy, I can''t wait to see your pendant

I''m another new Brian Gavin Diamonds customer! I''ve been working with Lesley over the last few weeks and have now picked a gorgeous H&A centre stone and a Mark Morrell setting! My FI is due to wire the money today, so I''m very excited. And I must say that their level of customer service has been outstanding! I''m in the UK, and I was slightly worried about the hassle of ordering from the US, but I needn''t have been, Lesley has been impeccable!

I''m almost a customer as well! I have a quote on a wedding band and just need to get my paycheck next week to start the project!!! Lesley has been super responsive on email and I can''t wait to get started.

Not that I was really going to anyway, but this would keep me from upgrading my studs. Not too fond of this policy.... Unless I'm misunderstanding. Can you go up in size, but down in color/clarity?

I suspect that will be flexible depending on the relative price of the diamonds.
Since he is giving current market rather than price paid and his new company didn''t make money on the first sale there needs to be a larger difference in cost between the diamonds.
ie a $500 upgrade would cost him to much money where say a $2000 upgrade he could break even.

I guess I can see why when you put it that way, though again, most likely wouldn''t work for me. Luckily, I''m not a size wh...person.

i''m thinking about contacting Brian to recut 5 of my wife''s (not so well cut stones) into ACA specs.

Who owns the ACA specs now?
Whiteflash or Brian?

Can such a thing even hold a patent? or can anyone just copy and cut to the ACA specs?

don''t know, the $value is the trademark name not the specs.

Anyone can copy, you can''t patent it because the patent has already expired on the RB if one ever existed.

I wonder how many will continue to shop at Whiteflash...

I''m kinda new here. Was Brian the creative force at wf? I''m considering having WF custom make me a ring, should I be looking into Brian as well?

Brian comes from a long line of diamond cutters and designed the ACA while at Whiteflash.
Whiteflash still cuts the ACA.

You'll have to do comparison shopping and decide whom to give your business to.

Let's look on the bright side.
More sources for super-ideal cut diamonds has to be good for the consumer.

I''m also almost a customer! And I am super excited. I''m hoping to have Brian make my wedding band with his signature ACA melee so that it will match the melee in my e-ring band which was done by him when he was affiliated with WF!

I''m super excited to hear that the trade up policy will apply at his new company.

THANK YOU Harriet for letting us know I didn''t even think to ask it never crossed my mind so I really appreciate the information!

Brian developed his signature Heart & Arrows superideal cut several years before joining Whiteflash. More info on his website at brianthecutter.com Hopefully his new e-commerce website will be up soon but for now he can be reached through this site. He did my recut back in January and I could not be happier. He also recently did a reset for me, a half-eternity using 9 stones from my great-aunt''s wedding ring.

Thanks S71.
I stand corrected.

Shady, do you have pics of the 9 stone up anywhere? I''d love to see it. I looked at your topics, and didn''t see a thread. Inquiring minds, you know

I have not yet put it up, just a simple, stock setting. Since this is a Brian Gavin thread, I guess its not totally inappropriate to put it here

That''s lovely!! I love the finish and execution. Brand new band!

I''m wanting to re-set my 7 stone band into something comfortable (this one bothers me). I think it''s 7 diamonds of 7 or 8 points each. I would REALLY prefer to do them in a bezel type swing half eternity, but... also just want a stock setting. I haven''t called around on it yet... will get around to in in a few months though. I also have MIL''s wedding band with baguettes in it that I need to do something with. Hey. I just got an idea. Hmm. Gonna have to think about that.

Stock settings really keep the price down. In my case the stones were not very well matched, the 10 stones ranged from 2.8 to 3.2mm and we left out one that was chipped. Made setting them a little difficult, but it really turned out lovely. Talk to Brian & Lesley, I am sure they can do anyting you want.

I've attached a photo of the original ring (bottom right), it was huge, must have been size 10 or 11, to big even for my thumb. I still have another band from my other aunt with 14 single cut stones plus 2 OEC solitaires, each about .60-.70ct, but one is badly chipped. I'm thinking maybe a pendant, but will start a new thread when ready.

I read that your pendant is almost done, can't wait to see it!!

Just thought I should share where I got that info. Go to the Client Portal at BGD website and it''s in the knowledge section. There is also more stuff in there about buy backs and referrals ect.
