Does bezel darken a stone more than prong-set?

I just got this spinel from Dana but the color is a bit light against my brown skin. I''m wondering if bezeling it would darken it more than prong setting, or if I should just return it? It would be a pendant.

Bezels will generally darken a store more than a prong setting.

When I want to know how it will look bezeled, I will put it in a prong hold and put a sticker (like a mailing label or something small but with a long flat edge) along the edges of the girdle to mimic a bezel.

How much it will darken will also depend on the cut of the stone, my spinel did not darken very much.

It''s debatable. I''ve heard people say they do and that would make sense. But I''ve also heard that if it''s a well cut stone it shouldn''t make a difference if it''s set in a bezel or prongs.
