I have a major problem with my cheeks, nose, and ears turning bright red. It usually happens after I eat or in the late afternoon. I talked to my doctor and asked if it may be rosacea but he thinks I am too young for it (22). Does anyone have any experience with this? Could it be allergies? He said some people are just prone to redness but it is really embarrassing and I would like to know if something else may be causing it. I also thought of high blood pressure but he didn''t think that was a problem either.

I turn BRIGHT red when I exert myself. You should see me after a work out! I thought it was blood pressure related too, no? Random question: do you blush easily?

I can turn beet red for no apparant reason, and it''s sometimes a little embarrassing.I thought all the hot flashes were history, but I guess they go on forever.

Sometimes my face gets red after I eat, too! I think I''m allergic to nuts or something else, and sometimes when I eat certain things my cheeks and nose get red and I can kind of feel it. Does your face ever feel tingly also? Mine does if I eat peanuts or peanut butter sometimes. I''ve laid off the peanuts and peanut butter just in case I am really allergic to them. (Apparently allergies can get worse and the reactions can become serious if you keep eating the food you''re allergic to.)

My face also gets red when I''m irritated or very nervous/embarassed, and of course it gets red after a work out. I don''t think I have rosacea, though-I think it''s just my skin type. You might want to check out food allergies since it happens after you eat. I need to get checked but I haven''t had a chance!

It has happened to one of my BMs for years. She is your age and it is roacea (sp). She looks like a tomato when she has even a little too much to drink. I get very pink when I workout, but I think it is just because I have pale skin and good circulation.

It doesn''t happen when I get embarrassed or even work-out. When I work-out I actually turn pretty pale... It seems to just be related to food, time of day, and drinking of course. It''s so frustrating.... sometimes people comment on it and I have no good answer about why it happens so I just get embarrassed and make jokes about it. Maybe I should insist on my doctor looking furter into rosacea as a possibility and maybe have an allergy test done. Those are just so painful though, ugh. I wish there was just a simple answer and fix

I''ve had something similar latey but its been dry patches that look red. But I''ve also had problems lately when I''ve been eating citrus (specifically oj). Went to the dermatologist and he said sometimes these things happen dont know why...he did give me an anti-imflamatory steroid cream for the dry patches. He thinks my citrus allergy is my imagination, but I do have an allergist appt the week after next. Also MIL is a nurse and said it also could be caused my pollen and mold that are are at high levels this time of year.

I did not know rosacea had an age. I think I would check that out further. It could be a reaction, are you eating a similar type of food or in the same situation each time it happens?

I''m the exact same-I turn so red when I exercise! Everyone else is nice and fresh faced and I look like a tomato!

I was diagnosed with mild rosacea when I was 21. They say it''s not typical, but it does happen. I had perfect skin through adolescence with the occasional redness due to embarassment or nerves, but once I turned 21 the redness seemed to always be there. It usually flairs up after I have had too much to drink or I am in an uncomfortable situation. The Dr. did prescribe me topical cream that really helps with the redness.

My ex-boyfriend who is asian (and I mention this because he told me once that it was an "asian thing") turned BRIGHT red, especially when he drank even a glass of wine.

He called it the asian persuasion or something like that...lol. What a comedian.

So according to him it happens to many people of asian descent...does that happen to be you?

You may have an allergy. My friend has the same problem and she linked it (after years) to sodium laural sulphate, so she''s avoided all products with that and the redness is gone.

What you need to look into is what you''re eating every day that could be causing this. I''m allergic to eggs and found about a week after elminated every product with even a trace of eggs, my headaches stopped. You probably are eating a similar ingredient daily that is causing this. I may be an obvious thing, like milk protein or a subtle hidden ingredient such as soy lecithin (as a soy allergy), and you really have to remove all traces of whatever food group it it to get an accurate idea. Or, of course, it could be MSG, which bothers a lot of people.

If you decide to target foods as the cause, you can start a food diary and see if there is a pattern.

alli- Do you need to use the cream all the time.? or how does that work?

neatfreak- no I''m not asian but its funny that he calls it the "asian persuasion" because my doctor said that alot of people of irish/scottish descent have the "curse of the scots" or something like that. My grandmother was a small part irish so I wonder if that happens to be it.

MC- I''ve noticed it happens most when I eat heavy meals and greasy foods like burgers and pizza. Usually if I eat a really light sandwhich and veggies then nothing happens. I used to be allergic to tomatoes and I''m starting to think that I may still be. hmmm... that would totally suck

I use Finacea and I am suppose to use it everyday after I wash my face, but I don''t. Like I said, mine is pretty mild so I only use it when it acts up. I tend to get raised bumps under the redness sometimes as well so if I see those or any redness I start to use it again and for the most part it goes away. I am very fair skinned(irish) so any redness shows on my face. Maybe it is a certain food that is doing it for you. I hope that you figure out what is causing it!

It totally sounds like rosacea to me. My Mom has it and I have a neighbor that got it during pregnancy because of a hormonal change. She was only like 25! I turn red when I work out or even get hot also, but I think it''s strange that it''s happening on a regular basis. It could also be an allergy. Get a second opinion about the rosacea.

The pizza and burgers could have chemicals in them causing the reaction! I''m not familiar with rosacea, but it sounds like testing that with creams would be an easier start than doing an allergy test. Just to point out, I paid about $250 and got two series of food allergy tests which told what immediate reaction foods bother me and what delayed ones do. If the redness is really bothering you, you can always opt for that if you figure it''s not rosacea.

It''s an allergy to alcohol. My FI has it too (Viet) it causes him to get very drunk on very little too. He''s a riot after 2 beers.
