Does an upgrade stop DSS?

Yep. My 3.39 ct OEC still looks huge to me. I mean, it has settled in nicely and I don't feel self concious about it or anything, but I know it's a large stone on a small finger, and it still seems like that to me. I wouldn't want to go larger than that really, except in like a cushion where the face up size was smaller (basically the 9.8mm, or whatever my OEC is, is the biggest I'd go)... but I have no desire to have anything larger than the stone I have now. Heck I hadn't intended to ever have anything the size it is, really.

I even took it out of a halo setting; but it didn't seem any smaller to me, afterwards. In fact, it did shrink recently actually - when I had it appraised, the appraiser measured it and estimated it to be 3.55 cts. When I had it reset, Victor Canera actually weighed it and it is 3.39, so it lost some weight . Still looks just as pretty to me though!

My 1.22 ct OEC did seem much smaller after I got it, within months. So it's not like I'm immune to DSS- it's just that I finally ended up with such a large stone that it really is at the outer limit of size for me to wear comfortably.

One thing I have noticed, at first when I got my upgrade stone no one said a word- I wore it for a year and not one remark, maybe I was self conscious and tried to shield it when I sensed a glance and people, being polite, responded to that, I don't know---- but I've gotten a lot more comfortable with my ring over the year, and just figured OK- no one notices-- big deal, and forgot about it --- but in the last month or so I've had five co-workers compliment the ring.

Today a colleague said OK, time out - stop moving that hand, your blinding me and let me see that baby up close and we talked about the cut size shape color and all the details I am so crazy about... she was as into the details as the ps crowd, who knew? -- it was really nice, I took it off and she tried it on...
