I have fat thighs with spider veins - so no shorts for me - ever. Except in the house, and I''m not even happy about that.

I used to wear shorts when I was much, much younger. But I never liked them - usually I wore them when I had to (going on someone''s boat, etc., where wearing jeans would look ridiculous and I would surely get questioned!). I just always felt very exposed in shorts, especially in restaurants, etc. (even if they''re casual restaurants) - always felt much more my style to wear a skirt. They''re just too casual for me most of the time. But - if I had better legs, I would wear ones to the knee sometimes, especially if I matched them up with nice accessories, sandals, etc.

Yes.

I admit, I wear short shorts and skirts!

When appropriate

I like them as long as they are long enough for the back of the leg not to have stuck to the chair when standing up. Not to mention, I don''t care to sit on a chair after someone stands up who was stuck to the chair.

Never. But I have some body image issues re: my legs

I think its my civic duty to NEVA EVA EVA go out in shorts or skirts that do not cover my thighs.. NO one wants to see all this!

I never wore shorts until about two years ago. Well, I wore shorts in high school during field hockey practice (and skirts during games!) but that was it, never by choice.

I bought shorts for a trip to Greece two summers ago and I was pretty shocked by how much more comfortable I was wearing shorts. I don''t tolerate hot weather very well, and the breeze on my legs felt amazing.

I still prefer the way I look in pants, but now I''ll wear shorts for comfort''s sake. My legs are extremely white (they almost look like they''re glowing

) and I just don''t like them, but on a very hot day shorts are so much more comfortable than pants. I look dreadful in capris, so I don''t wear those.

unless cheeks are hanging out, rock the shorts!! AND if you are 26 and have a smokin'' body, rock the daisy dukes too! it''s all downhill from there, lol.

i LOVE old navy shorts actually, it''s where i get most of mine. i usually get a size bigger as well if they are short since most of ON''s are low-rise.

i used to be more into capris but i realized that anything that cuts you off at that point of your leg is typically not flattering. now i tend to wear more sundresses than capris or shorts anyway in the summer though i do wear shorts around the house and out for walks.

Yep, definitely. Not to work, of course, but I''ll wear them out and about. I wear short ones, too. Not butt-hanging-out short, but definitely shorter than mid-thigh. I also have a pair of baggy boyfriend type shorts that I love. They''re so loose and comfy it''s like not wearing anything!

I think bermuda length shorts are kind of pointless as far as comfort goes. You might as well wear pants!

I live in Southern California, so shorts are a must. Thank goodness I was blessed with good genes. My 60 year old mom can still rock shorts (and I''m not talking about bermudas). At 37, I don''t have big thighs, don''t have cellulite, no spider/varicose veins. If I''m out at the beach, a park or at a kid''s soccer game, I have no problems wearing 3.5"-5" inseam shorts. If I''m going shopping or a school event, I cover up a little more, and wear bermuda length that are just above the knee.

No, I don''t. I really can''t remember the last time I did wear shorts, I''m sure it was over 7 or 8 years ago. The only time I''m in weather that would make it beneficial for me to wear shorts is during the summer for a week and a half. But I did see some longer shorts on sale in the paper today and I''m considering getting some. We''ll see if I feel comfortable in them though.

I have never worn shorts. I have never seen anyone look good in shorts yet.

I was about to say no, but honestly, I do all the time... athletic shorts, at least. I don''t own any others, because really if I can''t wear it to work or exercise in it, I don''t have it in my closet!

I''ll wear shorts and skorts at home only. When I go out it''s skirts and capris. I don''t feel comfortabel showing a lot of leg at my age even though I have long slender and toned legs. BTW, I think my DD would be embarrassed to see her mom in shorts. That''s a teenager for you.

my mom is 54 though and she wears shorts fairly often - my grandmother is in her early 70s and she wears them around the house

I''m pretty cold-natured, so there''s not much point in wearing shorts unless I want to have goose-bumps!

If it is a hot day and I am outside, it usually comes down to capris or a skirt. I only own 2 pairs of shorts.

HI:

Yup, to the knee only unless I am exercising.

cheers--Sharon

Not anymore...got too old to be comfortable!

I do, but I really prefer skirts.

I don't think it's necessarily an age thing, because I'll be 22 this summer and I haven't worn shorts in years. I know I probably could, but I don't particularly like my thighs at all, so I think shorts emphasize them too much so I don't feel comfortable in them. I wear skirts a couple inches above the knee (although I never wear the really short miniskirts because it's back to the thigh issue

) but in the summer I live in dresses and skirts that end a couple inches above the knee.

I've been going to the gym more lately, so maybe this summer I'll see if I feel ok in shorts. I always like how other people look in them, but I guess I just don't have the self confidence to pull it off!

I rarely wear shorts. Of course I''ll wear athletic shorts while exercising, washing the cars, etc. And I do have shorts to bring along on vacation if it''s going to be hot and I''m going to be in a swim suit. But I never wear shorts around otherwise. I love skirts, and I love jeans, I just don''t like shorts.

Same here!

The only "shorts" I wear are capri style and it took my mom and sister years to convince me to wear those. I have one pair of real shorts and I only wear those around the house if I''m sick or just doing housework.

Wow!!! I''m really amazed that so many of you ladies don''t wear shorts! It gets pretty hot here in the summer, so I do wear shorts quite a bit from May/June through August/September. Now I''m starting to wonder . . . at 31 (almost 32), maybe I''m too old for shorts and should stop wearing them???

Absolutely not.

And I agree it isnt an age thing. Because I am 25, and a size 0-2, and still don''t wear them. I actually havent worn a pair of shorts in about 10 years.

I think they are unflattering, and horribly uncomfortable in a very specific place. lol. Plus, when it comes to heat, I much prefer skirts/dresses than shorts anyway. They are much more airy. I live in dresses in the summer.

i''m kind of shocked, too. i''ve decided i''m going to rock my shorts happily.
i was thinking about it, i wear golf skirts all the time and have no issues, and those are mid-thigh.

and FL Steph- those Ann Taylor shorts are so cute. might need to pick up some of those.

Awww...I''ll be 33 next month, I really don''t think I''m too OLD to wear shorts. I have several pairs of J. Crew chino shorts ranging from 3" inseams to 11" that I wear with polo shirts or tank tops. They''re very tailored and they fit very well even though I admittedly do not have perfect legs. I don''t feel like I''m too old to wear them at all. I like my shorts and I will wear them until I feel they no longer look appropriate.

In my early 20''s, at 5''10" and size 4/6, I was always wearing shorts and skirts that were probably far too short in warm weather. I probably looked like a hootchie at times, but I was working it (no high heels with the shorts, though).

In my mid 30''s, it just no longer feels appropriate. I wear athletic shorts to work out and cargo shorts to hike, but that''s it. I love capris, skirts 1-3" above the knee and sundresses to keep cool in summer.

I can''t stand shorts. I only wear jeans or capris. I will wear a super long dress or skirt though, nothing shorter than where capris would come to.

I used to wear much shorter things when I was thinner and tan. I don''t like tanning so my chubby pale skin looks so gross in shorts ;) doin'' ya''ll a favor ;)

I never even considered shorts to be an age thing. You can be too old to wear shorts? Seriously. How old is too old?
