Haven|1295720206|2829739 said:I wouldn't try this type of mascara because of the spinning action. Exposure to air, especially moving air, ages your mascara. (This is why people who take the wand out of the tube and wave it in the air shorten the length of their mascara's staying power.) SO, the spinning seems to be bad for the actual mascara, as it would dry it out faster.

Ah, yes! That's actually what I was thinking of--pumping. Does anyone actually wave the wand around? Ha, sorry about the strange reference!MC|1295721549|2829763 said:Haven|1295720206|2829739 said:I wouldn't try this type of mascara because of the spinning action. Yeah, also "pumping" mascara in the tube dries it out more quickly. My mom use to do that. (my source comes from the gals on makeupalleylol
Mascara has become a precious resource as the prices have skyrocketed! Gotta make our $20-30 tube last as long as possible.

Haven|1295723757|2829817 said:Rimmel is great. I really like their eyeliner, it goes on smoothly and last a long time.
Their eyeshadows are nice and smooth too.
Haven|1295724232|2829824 said:I'm not really a primer person. I use Mac's lip primer when I use their lipsticks because otherwise they don't last long, but otherwise I don't use primers.
Using brushes to apply eyeshadow really helps with smooth application, rather than those little puffy wand things.
I always use eye shadow primer! I am a big fan of TooFaced Shadow Insurance. It works much better for me than UDPP. I've been using it for a couple years now, and it's still very effective.MC|1295724100|2829823 said:Do you use an eye shadow primer? I've used Urban Decay's primer for years and recall a couple ladies saying it quit working after a few years and now I'm experiencing the same thing. Their eye liner goes on smoothly and did last all day till the primer quit working.
Pumping definitely forces air into the tube and dries out the mascara, but I don't think a spinning wand has anything like a similar effect. So as much as this feels like challenging Teacher, I think Haven's initial concern is misplaced.Haven said:Ah, yes! That's actually what I was thinking of--pumping. She had to have surgery to remove the debris. She was awake for the procedure and described it to me in gorey detail. I've been meticulously careful since then whenever I apply eye make up. I'm sure she has been, too!

My sister turned to answer a question while putting on mascara, stabbed herself in the eye, and had to wear an eyepatch for a month! I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to putting things near my eye so I haven't tried the rotating wand.
Also, never drink while applying eye makeup, that's the message I got from my sister's incident.

Well, I put my mascara on in the morning....and cocktail hour does come EARLY in the St. Clare house, but never before 10AM!
