Prompted by another thread, do you remember your first post on PS? How did you feel about the responses you received at the time?

Mine was asking for advice what to do with my then RHR, whether to re-set or not to re-set, as I thought the wedding bands from me and my ex-hubby had been re-used to make the setting, and did not want to destroy it etc. etc...

The responses made me realise I had wrongly assumed the wedding bands had been re-used, and the most likely scenario was that they were sold as scrap for the money to put towards the cost of making the new setting at the time.

That was over 5k posts and over 7 years ago, and I am still here, posting nearly every day.

DK :))

I don't remember mine at all.

I remember mine since it had happened recently and I was really scared to ask, but I loved the responses. People were nice and helpful.

Ooo, I forgot to add, I do not blame anyone for leading me down the rabbit hole - I would have found the hole and jump right into it without any encouragement!

DK :lol-2:

Actually, I received only one response:) But I guess I was extremely happy and proud that someone had responded:D

It took me 5 years plus to post a thread!

It was via PS that led me to Diamondhouse in Antwerp where I got my EC in 2004, however, I did not join or post until 2013 when I started to plan for a re-set for that stone.

And you too got only one comment!

No, but I'll check, I"ll bet it was about OEC diamonds.

I belong to other message boards, and had my own in the past.

Whenever someone mentions cliqueiness in a board, I would advise, be brave and jump in.

It is no difference to going to a new pub/watering hole or joining in a new group activity for the first time.

DK :))

I thought mine was about our pet bunny but I was wrong. It was actually about my 10th anniversary upgrade which was a 1.01 G VVS2 princess cut ring I bought from IDNID. The post is all kinds of cringe, the rings are clearly too tight, terrible photography and I noted that it appraised for 11K....yeah okay.

I don't even have that ring anymore either lol!

Yes, it was in colored stones re: asking for assistance with finding a red spinel for my wedding ring. I lurked here for 4 yrs before posting because the group of regulars scared me with how harsh they could be about some things. I got teased a bit in my first post with responses to my statement that I wanted a stone that "made my heart sing" and almost slinked away into anonymity.

I didn't but I went back and looked. My first posted thread was in Whose who saying hello. I got several responses. Some were from lurkers like myself. All of them were basically like hi! And welcome!

I am and always have been mostly a lurker. My jewellery collection is not large and full of amazing stuff so pretty much in my eyes, no reason for ME (don't worry I don't feel this way when it comes to other people's collections. Just mine) to post much in the Show Me sections other than to gush over other people. I post a tiny bit in the Fashion jewellery forum because the little I have gotten has been appropriate for that section only. Other than that I answer some hang out question threads and that's it. Its been 10 years now and I don't even have 1k posts yet lol! Even though I don't really talk a ton I love this place.

no clue

Glad you didn't slink off @Matata! :mrgreen2:

I have no idea. I lurked forever.
edited: I asked about something I got ripped off on and got lots of response! Lots of people don’t post anymore either. DeeJay answered my first post and years later we met and have kept in touch. Interesting!

I started commenting almost as soon as I signed up but made my first post a week after. I made a post about looking at ASET's of two diamonds I found interesting.

Yes, not my proudest moments. I’ll look back sometimes and cringe at how embarrassing I am. I’ve made some mistakes and learned a lot in the process. Became more familiar with forum etiquette and mannerisms. I’ve been off the forum for a while, peeking in once or twice to sell something but not really contributing like I used to.

ETA: I used an account I made about 10 years ago up until now. But thought it would be best to start anew. I had a horrible divorce years ago and had to file a restraining order against my ex and because I am soon to be engaged (ring in process!), I do not want my ex to find out.

LOL, I am going to make my first post right here!

I started frequenting this site at the start of Quarantine 2020, so have only lurked for several months, but I have been busy! I was researching where to buy earrings on line as my ears had closed and I wanted to try again to wear earrings.

First up made three purchases on Loupe Troop, yikes. Then I made contact with the fellow at Art Cut Gems and have a bunch on hold.

And as fate would have it, Whiteflash is unbelievably three miles from my house. It is right across the street from a steakhouse that we occasionally go to for lunch. I have never noticed or paid any attention to the jewelry store that is Whiteflash. So today I called to see if there showroom was open. Guess who answered the phone, the owner of Whiteflash.

Anyhoo I don't know how long I will stick around because at some point I have to come to my senses and remember that I only have sons and no daughters and that my mother thought jewelry was gouache and gaudy.

In the meantime I am in the market for an upscale necklace that I can wear in the shower and a couple of eternity band "stackers".

Haha like with many things I dove in head first. Signed up and started posting the next morning after browsing for a bit.

Actually my DH signed me up because I wanted to reset my ER and he found PS for me. I was new to computers and the internet. I quickly learned and started posting and haven’t looked back.

More than a decade later and many thousands of posts I’m still posting. I came for the bling and stayed for the wonderful people here.

Thanks PS and PSers.

You can ask admins to close your old account, I believe we are not allowed to have 2 accounts. Then even you will not be able to read your own old posts and will forget many unpleasant things.

Oh, it’s already closed. I only have the one account. Seems bittersweet though. As much as some of my early work was silly, I do miss having a history and people knowing who I am.
I made a lot of great friends here that I missed very much.

Welcome then! And daughter in laws love jewellery too! And granddaughters if you end up with any. There's also nieces if you are close with them. And there's always gifts for yourself :D those are all good excuses for jewellery!

I lurked for a year...found this site after we bought my 25th anniversary upgrade. Just recently I asked about eternity ring advice and got a few replies. Im so excited, as i am now in the 2 week club for diamond studs and 6 week club for my eternity ring!! Both from HPD! They will be my first ideal stones and I can’t wait to see them! I adore looking at the beautiful jewelry on here and im learning so much

My first was a post about a ring I'd been given; I was positively gushing about it and most people were nice. Most. I started off pretty insecure, but grew in confidence over time. I eventually learned that my instincts about bling are pretty good, no matter how much self-doubt I carry. Pricescope really helped me grow. And I remind grateful for the community.

Yes, of course I remember my first post. It was a very, very, very expensive mistake!!! :mrgreen2:

I don't remember it and I can't find it by searching.

edited to add: I found this thread by entering the year I joined, 2003. It does not have my first post, but it is pretty early. I enjoyed the trip back in time. Maybe some other old timers will, too.

Can't find my first post but on nov 8 2003 I recommended an ACA to someone LOL
I joined the 1st of nov 2003

I didn't but I was curious, so I searched my old username and found it. I had asked for help figuring out how to set my 1.05 Jubilee cut (the modern, cut-corner square one from Atlass and Horowitz). Can't believe that was in 2007!
