do you count every caliores?
i told my friends and family that when i die i know i didn't get cheated from what i love to eat... :praise: ..i can't imagine life w/o UNhealthy foods... ;(

Unfortunately, yes. I have to. I count every calorie.

I know some people can "follow their appettite" and stay a healthy weight. I am not one of those fortunate ones.

Complete swinging scales for me. Either I'm being really healthy or I'm comfort-eating like a teenager. Although since the Great Cancer Wave in my family over the last two years, I'm more on the healthy side. I no longer care about the way I look in the same way I did as a teenager - I don't need the perfect measurements in order to feel good about myself - but I am concerned about my health. Not to sound like anyone's mother, but we do need a certain amount of vitamins and minerals a day so I try to eat four pieces of fruit, drink two cups of milk and have a pile of vegetables each day.

I'm Oprah. I've been all over the place.

That reminds me. I gotta go work out. After I eat this tub of ice cream tho.

I don't count calories but I watch what I eat for sure. I am pretty good at maintaining my weight though I might fluctuate b/w a few pounds depending on the time of month and extra stressful times. But I'm pretty stable overall. I am a bit of a health nut and exercise every day so that helps.

I've gained 50 pounds since I got married. I tooooootally watch my calories!

Watch them go into my mouth and onto my thighs! Woo hoo!!!!

Ugh... But seriously, I have three months till the gtg...
No, less than 3 months! Crap!!

You know they say you gain weight when you are in a happy marriage! When my dh and I first got married we went to Italy for 3 weeks and we both gained like over 12 pounds in those 3 weeks lol.

You can do it YT but be kind to yourself and don't beat yourself up if you lapse. One day at a time is the only way to do it and lapses are normal. It's more of a lifestyle change than a diet if you want success long term...I know you can do it!

ARE YOU KIDDING, WITH THE CRAP I EAT?

I usually just shut my eyes and shovel it in.

Not calories, but Weight Watchers points.

Hahaha, took the words right outta my mouth!

Sometimes I write down everything I eat but I don't do it every day. I should do it more often. One thing I've done since the new year began is cut out sugar (except for fruit), all pasta (whole wheat and regular), potatoes, and white rice. I still have other carbs and whole grains though. It's been really hard but now it's turned into a game. How long can I keep this up? We'll see...

Yes. I record what I eat and how much I exercise most days. Some days are too difficult (either because we went out to eat or because I don't have the time to log), but the more I log, the more I lose. I have about 7 lbs to lose to reach my first goal weight, and then that really tough "last 10" that I'm going to push for after that.

I had an eating disorder for almost a decade, so now that I'm "recovering" (I don't think you're ever really cured), I make a point to NOT count calories. Doing so is a huge trigger for me. I also don't weigh myself very often at all. In my case, a lack of knowledge is power.

yep,them scales always lie...

I joined myfitnesspal.com about a year ago to help me track my calories/exercise. I was doing great with it until EQ got sick in November and kind of slacked off. I'm still trying to get back on track and have good days and bad days. I've gained 8 pounds (after losing 34) from November till now and am really annoyed with myself, but things have been very stressful lately that I just can't seem to get back into the swing of things. I also have a Fitbit which I use to track my steps/mileage/calories burned/sleep.

I'm lucky to have a robust metabolism, but I also have a very health conscious spouse and a six year old daughter that watches everything I do! Since I first heard the question " why do you get to have cookies for breakfast?" I've tried to reform.
I'm typically a good eater, but I have a weakness for cookies with coffee! :lickout:

Yes, I'm very conscious of my food intake and calories. I need 1500 to maintain, and 1300 to lose.

Sometimes I will go through short periods of eating whatever I want. Once I gain 3-4 pounds, I force myself to start losing it. But I wish I could stay trim without having to work on it!!!!

I don't count calories, but I am an obsessive lable reader.
I have a milk allergy and they put milk in everything that's delicious. Also in all sorts of random stuff too. (Lovely organic pre-minced basil? let's add whey! I'm sure that will make it better! )

Birthday cake at work? No. Pre-baked goods of any kind? No. Anything with cheese butter or cream? No. Almost any premade packaged food? No. Frozen pre-made food? No. etc. etc.

I try to get enough excercise and eat healty, but my job is very sedentary and I'm starting to feel it's effects.

Oh YT  we are SO alike! I gained a lot of weight after meeting DH, too. I'm not happy about my weight, but I love food too much to diet, and working out hasn't resulted in any weight loss for me :blackeye: :knockout:

My usual thing is: I see food, I eat it (and then regret it a little afterwards)

I also cave too much to my cravings - and I have a LOT of cravings

I dont count calories, but I do try to be careful, I am overweight and diabetic so its pretty important for me...but some days I just dont care, other days I do...

After I had the baby I did weight watchers online, since I couldn't really get back to working out for a while... Now that I have been working out (hard core boot-camp/ cross-fit workouts), I eat sensibly, but if I really want to eat pizza or a cupcake or something, I do.

Nope, I do not count a single calorie. I eat meat, fruits and veggies so there is no need to count calories. I love my healthy food and when I stray from it even for one meal my stomach is rolling.

I have to watch what I eat.

Unfortunately, I sometimes develop selective blindness :sun:

I can't imagine not paying some sort of attention to what goes in my mouth. I don't necessarily count anything, but I'm generally aware of calories, fat, etc. I've always been that way and it contributes to my weight staying constant for my entire adult life.

Ummm, I watch it go into my mouth.

In all honesty, I try to maintain a healthy weight and activity level, but counting calories has never worked for me if I'm being as active as I like to be. My body kind of holds onto things - I think the truth is that I just didn't eat enough. I worked the HECK out of my body but would only feed it as much as I did when I was trying to lose weight without exercising. Hello, unhealthy. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around eating more, but as I'm getting more and more active again, I need to try.

That said - I do not count calories anymore and I don't own a scale. I put WAY too much emphasis on the numbers and I get obsessive and then I'm in a really bad place. So now I just try to live an active life and eat food that fuels my body in good ways and wherever my body ends up is where it will be.

I don't count calories but am aware of what I put into my mouth. Fresh non-processed food is my staple and when we go out to eat,
I skip the salad dressing, opt for lean meats and avoid dishes that have a lot of cream or butter. Occasionally, I treat myself to ice cream and desert when the urge strikes. Since my metabolism has slowed down (no longer a young adult ;( ), I have also cut back on carbohydrates. I suppose the key thing is moderation in everything.

The "watching food go into my mouth straight to my thighs" cracked me up.

Yes. I am careful of everything I eat. I am a diabetic, so I have no choice. My meter keeps me honest.
