I only have 10 melee stones, but yep, I louped them when I received the ring. Other than that, I don't really pay them any attention unless I've just cleaned my ring -- then I double-check them all to make sure they're still there and not loose.

I do loupe them occasionally out of interest - but I will loupe anything! I haven't found any inclusions but I am horrible at spotting them and am only using a 10x loupe. I can see some inclusions in my half-moon sidestones though (I am not good at diamonds but... white cloudy thing off to the side on one and little light specks in the corner on the other, neither of which I can see with plain eyes even knowing where they are), and in my main stone when it has just been cleaned, but not in the little stones. Mainly I loupe them to make sure all the little prongy bead things are there and doing their jobs - I can barely see them with my regular eyes so I need some help when I am trying to check them.

Well, I don't own a 30x loupe, but I do check the prongs with a 10x loupe every month. When I first received my setting I louped the stones and I couldn't see anything, and ignorance is bliss so I don't bother anymore.

I use my olloclip for my iphone as I bought a cheap loupe off ebay ( ).

When I have looked at the (now 1 remaining) ring I have with melee... I see what a crap job the eBay vendor did. Oh - and that shocks me.....??? not! I've already lost a stone out of this setting and I'd lost 2 on the other one that was now just evaluated for scrap metal.

Sometimes, ignorance is bliss...

but please do...tell us your secret on finding those little tiny inclusions. do you use a 20X loupe?

30x usually. I have 10x'd several things and been happy with that in most cases and use the 30x to get better looks esp at prongs. I regularly use the 30x on both my ering and w-ring though, in part to make sure I got all the gunk off of it and around the prongs, under the stones, etc. and to make sure there are no chips that may have occurred. I no longer have a wedding band with prongs so that's not an issue anymore.
