My condo in California is in a hi-rise and I know most of the 100+ people in the building. Currently I''m in corporate housing in the midwest. I don''t have a clue who any of my neighbor''s are. I didn''t even bother to go to the pool party. I guess knowing it''s a temporary home I''m just not invested.

Pretty much - we''re good friends with the couple who live above us.

We only know them because DH sits on the tenant''s management board and so gets to know all the others that way.

We value our privacy and so wouldn''t want neighbours who are dropping in etc

The British can come across as a bit offish, but it''s normally just suprise that people are talking too them rather than being nasty. A bit like no-one talks on the Underground - unless you are trapped in a tunnel for 2 hours when the power fails. Then you all become best friends and talk. Very odd...

We live in FL and I think it depends on the region. We are in a college town, and I''ve always known my neighbors. When I was younger, our neighbors let me go over and pick oranges, feed their cows and horse, and watch the great grandpa garden. Then when we moved, Our neighbors brought us cases of Lobster from the Keys and let us harvest blueberries on one side, and the other side let us use their woods for hunting. Now we have a very wealthy business owner on one side who always waves in the morning and brings a ham on holidays, and on the other, a tree farmer who just bought our utility cart!! I love knowing neighbors. When I''ve lived outside of here though it isn''t the same

We''re friends with our next door neighbor, we invite her to our parties and vice versa. And I''d totally feel comfortable asking her for a cup of sugar.

I hate upstairs lady because she sounds like an elephant up there, likes to get it on LOUD at 7am on Saturdays, and bangs my car with her driver side door. Freke not happy.

And Mo, as I like to call him, is always around, so I know him too (he''s kind of like the condo manager dude.) Other than that, I don''t really know anyone--but no one has really lived here as long as my next door neighbor and I, so whatever.

Oh, and my other next door neighbor is really old (70-80s?) and she''s knocked on my door before to ask a question, but that''s a hi thing. And a ''Is your patio flooded too?'' thing.

I don''t like a lot of my neighbors because they are obnoxious 19-22 year olds who party, drink, and let their guests take all of the parking spots.

I won''t go into Buick lady....

We must have the same young neighboors! I feel sooo old (im only 25!!!) when i have to go outside and ask them to keep it down! lol!

We don''t know our neighboors other than the usually "hello". Our side neighboor is a recluse who does her shopping via online, our downstairs neighboors have LOUD arguments and throw things, but are nice to us (lol). our other side neighboors are loud, like to bbq and smoke pot. Our bottom neighboor is the sweetest old lady She was locked out of her apt one day, and since she didnt have her purse with her, we paid for the locksmith to come. She paid us back, plus dinner. E was bending over backwards to make sure she was warm as 1) she couldnt walk upstairs to our place (three flights) and 2) the cabana/office was LOCKED (unusually since its 24/h and it was only 8pm

).

The neighboor hood i grew up in, everyone knew EVERYONE''s business (including my sisters makeout session in a car lol!!). I do miss those big BBQ and water fights. Now the only time the whole apt complex gets out is when the firetrucks come b/c someone knocked their sprinklers on!
