I am in the process of upgrading my engagement ring. Actually, it's more like picking out a whole new ring. Long story short: my princess cut diamond cracked and since it needs to replaced/repaired...I decided this was my opportunity to pick out something more my style. I have decided on a rose gold, cushion halo for a round diamond. And THIS is the diamond I want! The caption is calling it pink champagne, but provides no additional information. What are your thoughts? How do I find a diamond similar to this? My preferences include: 1-1.5ct, VS1-VS2 clarity, and VG-EXcellent cut.

Thanks!

Pinterest lies.

It's not pink, that's a reflection. It's an old cut from jewels by Erica grace(back whenxtheu were together) its probably a lower cut l-m ish but just a guess.

Email Erica at love affair diamonds see if she remembers it, or look around their old photos.

The only way to know what color any diamond is is by having it graded by a competent lab like GIA or AGS.

There are a zillions reasons you can't judge diamond color by a pic.

Thank you, Neil, for the info. I have sent her an email. :wavey:

Yes, obviously, Kenny. However, there are people on here that may have seen it or something similar and can point me in the right direction. Especially considering I am unable to locate any additional info on this picture. I guess I am asking which color family this would belong to. I am not sure if I should search brown, pink, or champagne diamonds. It's a bit overwhelming.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my post.

99.9995487% of the color "in" that diamond is just reflections of the environment, not body color of the diamond material.

What is a 'color family'?

I'm obsessed with brown or light brown diamonds. For whatever reason they come with a stigma. But if you like them Id go for it! There is more than just one kind of scale. Most diamonds show a yellow undertone. Bsome show pink or blue. Those are graded as such though in any color under G (if I remember correctly) and will cost an arm and a leg.

But the color scale also goes down in brown undertones too. After ( I think j) colors will be noted and include that they have a brown tone. Like it'll say something like "k faint brown".

So like a o-p stone would have noticeable color but still subtle, so that might be something to look into!

Just be prepared for the fact that a pink diamond sells for many times more than a "champagne" (lower color) diamond.

Neil....I LOVE that diamond! It's beautiful!

I love both of these. One of these would be my choice! Probably that pear. It's 9x6! Oh yeah!

I agree - that pear is delish!

But back to the business at hand... here's a nicely tinted 1.6 c round at GOG:

Ugh . I love this . I wonder if it does have a brown undertone. Ask Jon! I think we need a vid ;)

I have a .8 that's light brown, you'd probably love the color of that one.

Mine was estimated to be an O/P by David Atlas and often has a pinkish brown tint.

Sure. Here's one taken at BGD right after it got recut. It was a .99ct dog before that.

Here's a pic taken by WF in a ring that I had it mounted in for a while.

Thank you. Truth is, that diamond is homeless again. I had it taken out of the setting in favor of an E colored AVR.I really need to crap or get off the pot with that poor diamond.
