I have cut and dyed my own hair since 2006, so I think it is hilarity personified that so many of my friends are on Facebook trying to coordinate back alley hair and manicure transactions.

no but i know a few people who are willing to have their dogs groomed, some of them tried on their own and the results weren't good!

I do my own hair color/grey coverage, and have been for 20+ years. I get a haircut once a year, so that's NBD. I miss getting a pedi because they do a better job than I can, but I can do those too.

I've been grooming since April 1st because I was deemed essential pet care services AND I work alone in a mobile grooming van. Only 2 of my 140+ clients have canceled on me. I was already booked solid, but am getting 40+ phone calls a day from people begging for services....I wish I knew someone else with my sensitivities, I'd buy a van and put them in it.

I know some people that are getting their hair and nails done on the sly, and I know others that won't be doing ANYTHING until a vax is found. It's been very interesting seeing people's responses to Covid. Sometimes you think you know someone.....

I have done some consulting work for my hair stylist's salon for many years, so we have gotten to be friendly outside of the salon and I've been following her situation closely. She reopened this week with everyone wearing masks and face shields, and she and her assistant are both wearing scrubs that I'm guessing they'll wash at the salon. (Not sure about the other stylists - I've just seen photos on Facebook, I haven't been to the salon.)

She has clients coming back and her new salon is small with the stylists spaced out on a normal day, so I'm hopeful that with their new precautions, everyone will remain safe. I gave home haircuts to my boys and my daughter and I are fine waiting indefinitely to see how things shake out.

I did have my Chow done last week because I cannot do it myself as I don't have proper equipment. He hadn't been done since last summer and he was miserable. So was my carpet and vacuum! He's a happy boy now. The shop was picking them up curbside only and all wearing masks. I think they have limited the amount of groomers in the shop at one time too.

My hair? Eh it can wait and I don't do my nails other than filing.

I think I will never get a normal cut (layers, framing) and color again, just a nice short and sweet dry trim along the longest length.
Not only did this freak me out but after learning about the 2017-2018 flu season index.html I am done.
Seriously done.

I've been dyeing my own hair for more than a decade and stocked up on dye supplies during the beginning of the shutdown. I get my hair cut a few times a year but I did it myself with mostly thinning shears and a bit with my regular shears. I usually go get my nails filled with hard gel once a month but my nails were just too long so I took them off with my nail drill, trimmed them, and painted my nails.
I couldn't wait for the salons to open (god knows when in NYC) and didn't want to risk going to the people that I know are offering these services right now or going to a different state.
I'm not going to the nail salon anytime soon because I have sensitive cuticles that always bleed and there is no way I am risking it. If I have to do gel again in the future, I can buy the supplies and do it myself (I used to do my own acrylics).

I’ve got my first haircut since February booked for Tuesday. I trimmed my own fringe last week but my undercut is tragic!
We’re into level 2 as of this morning which means shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen as long as they follow strict hygiene and distancing requirements. We’ve had almost no new cases in the last week or single digit new cases. Fingers crossed we don’t have a big spike when people start going back to work and school and socialising more.

Boys went to get their haircuts today. We figure to get it done (and have a shorter cut than usual) before the second wave!

I think it really depends on your location. I am staying in rural NW Arkansas and there are 2 cases in the county, both recovered and no new cases in over 3 weeks. So here, I might risk it. In NYC, definitely not. The huge question is should I risk letting someone in podunk cut my hair!

I’ve been dyeing my own hair for years now and I get a fancy haircut/dye probably only once or twice a year at most. So for me it doesn’t really matter. They can stay closed for a long time and it wouldn’t affect me.

But I have a really close friend who is also a co-worker and she doesn’t seem to worry about catching Covid as much as I thought she would. For example we get disposable scrubs at work and she doesn’t wear them, even when she is covering the Covid positive units. I wear them even when I’m not covering those units. Not so much for myself but I don’t want to bring home anything to my family.
Also, she has 8 kids and she has her hairstylist living with her and she is doing haircuts at her place. That’s something I just wouldn’t risk.

Interesting, this makes me think a lot of women will be going with lower maintenance looks after this.

I would not get a haircut either for a long time. I have low maintenance hair. I don't color it and embrace my "white highlights" throughout my dark hair and wear it a few inches past my shoulders. Pretty much all the same length. So I can go months and months without a trim and it still looks healthy. If I get to where the ends look scraggly, I can always get creative about pulling it back or putting it up until I feel safe going for a trim.

My son wanted me to trim his hair yesterday. I have never cut hair. He has decided to embrace it growing out but because he had a short cut, as it is growing out and it is curly, the back was growing into a mullet. So, I just trimmed the back about 2 inches and he wants me to keep doing that as the layers grow out. He was happy and it improved his look so much . Got rid of the mullet look! He said he didn't intend on growing it and has only worn it short. But he likes how it is looking (minus the burgeoning mullet which is now gone!). Turns out he has nice hair! He is 18 and we don't know if he will be off to college for freshman year or starting college in his bedroom online. He says if there ever was a time to grow out his hair and see how it looks, this is it. I agree.

Thank you @SallyB . I appreciate the prayers so much. Surgery went well yesterday-NO cancer found in sentinel lymph node. I felt awful yesterday, awesome this morning, and now feel like I've been hit by a truck. Hair is still two toned lol but I am praising God for what looks like a very good prognosis. Thank you! The community here is so awesome, you're a gem!=)2

Great news, I am so glad your surgery went well! And your prognosis is good too.

Thank you @Bonfire! Wow, you are my superhero-sooo many breast cancer thrivors and ALL are so positive, supportive and provide great hope for all. I am one week post lumpectomy, no call yet with pathology, finally sleeping (much) better at night(already on amiridex and it's KILLING my sleep), but trying to lay low still, as I am a DOER, so forcing the teens to step up more.

Another fellow survivor (19 years!). Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way! Take care

Oh @Queenie60!!! You are such an inspiration! My breast surgeon just called-5mm, margins clear, two nodes negative. I am praising GOD and so thankful. Along with Pricescopers, the breast cancer community is filled with lovelies like YOU. And I am grateful. Stay well <3

@Calliecake You are so kind! I am so thrilled(which is weird to have a bc diagnosis and be so happy) but I am truly blessed and pray I can share my EARLY DETECTION testimony with other women, so that they can avoid the uncertainty of breast cancer. Stay well, sweetie

You’re going to be just fine. My nodes were clean as well. Tumor a bit larger and I was triple negative which was quite aggressive. And here I am today, kicking and screaming!!!!! You will be stronger, kinder, more compassionate and grateful for life after this. My illness was a gift in that I came out of it a stronger and better person.
