Ok,

So I got my fiances 14kt WG band. I noticed there were a few "digs" in the gold on the side of the band. I took it back to the jeweler and they were very nice. They took me to another place where they filled in the "digs" and they had to re-rhodium plate the band. When I picked it up it looked fine, but when I got it home and looked at it in better light I realized there were still a few small digs on the side (they can't be seen easily with the naked eye...more noticeable under the loupe or in great light you can see a spec...is that normal...am I being too picky?) AND on the top of the band (where the satin finish is) I can see a slightly goldish tint in one very small area. It makes me wonder about the craftmanship and if it really is 14kt WHITE gold or could it be yellow gold that they just rhodium plated? If I take the piece somewhere, will they be able to look at the ring and tell me? I am really upset over this ordeal because there are NO returns only exchanges.

At this point I want to take it to another jeweler and have them look at it and repair the flaws. Please help!

Hey Baguette,

I would exchange the whole darn thing!

What a mess.

Clearly you are on to something and what''s the point of having them try to fix what they have already tried to fix?

Tell them you are taking full advantage of thier exchange policy and would like a new band EXACTLY like the one you originally wanted w/o the screwy repairs.

Hi baguette,

No, I don't think a new ring should be showing flaws, even under a loupe. And all white gold has yellow in it, but it shouldn't be showing through. They may just have not done a thorough job at replating it, not sure.

If you are close to Long Island, there is Goodoldgold. Here is there contact page.

Or there is Engagementringsdirect.

Jon at GOG, and Mark at ERD are both very reputable jewelers who could help you. Or, just return as Lisa suggested.

Oh, no, baguette. I said you''d probably be fine.

I feel so bad.

Having said that, take it back and make them give you a brand new one that isn''t mickey moused back together and so forth. Unbelievable. I''d mention us too. (PS that is) We will absolutely not be happy about somebody not doing it right. This is ludicrous.
