We do. :wavey:

Yup

Yes. I have only ever needed to look at it once, but that was because I somehow accidentally turned on an antitheft feature of my old car and it cut the gas and wouldn't unlock or let me roll down windows, so I was trapped in a car that wouldn't move. lol.

For a couple weeks after buy a new car the manual is next to the toilet.
After that it goes into the trunk.

Many times I have been very happy I kept it there.

Yes! I needed it very recently when we couldn't find the battery in the BMW to jump start another car (it was in the trunk!)

Yes and I don't see any reason why not to.

Yes, but in Billy Ray it is taking up much of the prescious little glove compartment space, which is virtually the only storage in the whole damn car. Clearly this car was designed by MEN.

Under the seat? Any door compartment? You must have a boot that you can use, right?

Chrono, thanks for the suggestions.

I would never store things under the seat because I would be afraid they would get lose and go under my pedals. I suppose I could store things under the passenger seat, but when you race they make you take everything loose out of the car, including the floormats that are SNAPPED DOWN, so I'm afraid I would miss something and have it flying about on a fast turn.

There is a door compartment... and it's not even big enough for my wallet.

The boot is in the front of the car and would indeed hold the manual (I currently have an emergency car kit, a blanket and a racing helmet in there!) but I find my need for the manual to be greatest when I'm in/driving the car. (And no, I don't read the manual WHILE I'm driving, but I will say to the passenger, would you get that damn Porsche Bible out and tell me how to... ).

One other virtually useless "storage" area is the center console. I belive it to be approximately 1-1/2" deep and the width of my forearm. It currently holds the remote control for my radar detector, a pack of gum, chapstick, and and a nail file. And it is FULL.

Chick vent on 911 storage -- HA!

I usually keep it in my glove compartment but now I wish I didn't because now I can't open my glove compartment even though I NEED the manual to see if there is an alternate way to open it. Sigh............stupid finger opening Jag compartments! :angryfire:

I keep it in the glove box. I've never even considered putting it somewhere else.

I use it twice a year when it's time to adjust the clock. I also used it once to re-set a tire pressure monitor.

My glove compartment has the cutest little pull-down drawer for the manual to live in. I've been glad it was there quite a few times.

Yes. It stays in the glove box.

Yes, I do and it's come in handy so many times... I use it often to figure out how to fold my 3rd row down (I can never remember off the top of my head).

Yes!!! The kids bring home tons of school notices & DH has tons of work notices. I have files for everything, but it just is the easiest putting the manual in the glove box...

I just thought that's where you're supposed to store it? Seems like the easiest way to find it when you're having car trouble and need to consult it, or when you want to change something, etc.

My brother never needed a manual. He was one of those kids who was socially backward but mathematically brilliant, who could take something apart and put it back together again and it would actually work. So, my dad bought him a car when he was 13, and he took it apart and put it back together and had it running in one summer. I've always thought that was just crazy/awesome.

HI:

Yes, b/c I believe that is where it belongs. Convenient and all that...

cheers--Sharon

yes

All of ours are inside the house...

charleston1, I don't want to be a thread hog so I'll just say that I have done a bit of autocross. What a blast! I'm just a novice though, Portia is the expert.
