Do you have a style?

Nope. If I had to choose, I'd say casual because I live in shorts and tanks in the summer, and sweaters/long-sleeved Ts and jeans in the winter. A family friend's stepdaughter is in town, and she's straight from Korea, and VERY fashionable. I feel horribly frumpy next to her!

Classic. Short skirt and dresses look good on me but in morning haste it is somewhat difficult to find right color pantyhose, so I end up wearing pants. Even jeans are tailored. I like blazers, one Armani can last for several years and they are amazingly versatile. I like cashmeres, buy them everywhere including Land's end and JCrew. I like mid-high heels and booties. In my 20-es I heard that black shoes were "classy" and only recently drifted away from this idea. I like Marc Jacobs purses but always miss the sales so I end up buying a Michael Kors bag, wearing it through a couple of seasons non-stop until it falls apart and then I toss it out. (You can not, really, toss out Marc Jacobs or Chloe and changing purses is such a hassle). I like trench coats, cashmere and alpaca coats for the winter. "Alpaca Boutique", an online store, sells nice scarves and mittens. And of course, like everyone else, I like expensive shoes but on weekends I wear Danskos. Etro are not the most comfortable ones, but I like their Pegasus. Ecco are not, really, my style, but they are so comfy that I can never stop myself from buying a pair. Oh, and gladiator sandals in the summertime. Maybe too young for my age, but leg-wise I can pull it. Never had an hourglass figure, though.
Leather always works! Be it a jacket, a skirt, or a coat. I wear mine till holes.

I wear mostly classic/boring clothes...I've tried other styles, but this is what I am most comfortable in. I prefer having less clothes, but better quality although I envy my sister who always looks trendy and fabulous for a quarter of what I spend on my wardrobe.
Sooo...for work it is mostly Theory and Vince. Flats or boots.
Weekends is dark wash skinny or bootcut jeans. Flats or boots. dresses and sandals in the summer.

Fiance is in LOVE with Theory...fantastic brand.

I guess I have two different styles. When I'm not working and its during the week I wear these really comfortable shirts from Gap Body (I have an arsenal of them), sweatshirts, sweatpants, yoga pants (lululemon is my favorite!), northface, sneakers.

BUT...when I go out, I like to wear jeans, heels, and a nice shirt or a cute dress. Never anything too bold or anything that stands out. I like to keep it simple.

Oh, and I have an obsession with shoes. So right now I'm on the hunt for some over-the-knee boots.

um wow, are you my twin? I LOVE gap body tees and am always in a northface. And I have been hunting for over the knee boots to jazz up my jeans + T shirt kinda style - i ordered the steve madden overrpas boots today-- we'll see how it goes. OTK boots are so hot :naughty: If you find a great pair, let me know!

Hi twin!!!! Have you bought the long sleeved shirts from there yet? I went on a rampage and bought ten of them :? They're so comfortable... After I bought them my best friend had one feel of the material and went on a rampage herself the next day :)

OooOOo I'll check out the steve maddens. I found some OTK boots that are from BCBG. They're pretty hot. They come in black or brown and they lace up in the back like a corset....contemplating getting them. sexy sexy sexy! please do let me know if you find any too!

I am in LOVE with northface....aren't you so happy its almost northface weather?!?!?!?!? They have some nice new stuff at the store!

I'm also on the hunt for a brown belt...no design on it, just a medium brown belt that isn't thin. I can't find one for the life of me :angryfire:

Here is the final test though----are you an Ugg person? (I am...even though they're beyond hideous...I can't say I mind walking on clouds everyday!)

I mostly wear helmut lang, dvf and some prada

Yeah right: I'm mostly in very scruffy work clothes or scrubs!

Sporty casual, I'm rarely dressed "nicely". I don't own a skirt and wear dresses only to weddings and funerals. I'm in athletic wear 90% of the time nowadays, and jeans are me "dressing up".

Honestly, I know very little about fashion and it intimidates me a bit! I'm sure What Not to Wear would have a field day with me!

I have a very distinct silhouette that I usually wear.

Pants: Very long palazzo-type pants (a bit more tailored, and sometimes a bit narrower throughout than a true palazzo.) I LOVE a sewn-in center front pleat and thick sewn cuffs.

Tops: A more fitted top to balance the pants. Usually sleeveless in warm weather, and with an interesting or exaggerated neckline. I also like tops with whimsical little details, like origami-style pleating at the neckline, or fabric yo-yos on one side along the bottom of the top, or a splash of different fabric along the bottom. Think Anthropologie tops, I like funky and unexpected details.

Shoes: Heels. Rawr.

Hair: I've been wearing really thick bangs for a while now, and they seem to be a style point. People comment on them all the time.

Jewelry: My wedding set, my grandmother's ring, and either a big funky necklace or big funky earrings.

My clothes are a mix of things from thrift stores, Loehmann's, Anthropologie, and Banana Republic.

Yeah, I have a style. Not sure what I'd call it though. I think I'm pretty fashion forward but I'm not a super trendy person. I like what I like, and if it's trendy, yay! If not, oh well. Right now I'm wearing black high waisted skinny jeans (Nudie High Kai-I own several pairs and they're my favorite), an oversized heather grey tank top and lace up sandal shoe things from Dolce Vita. I wear skinny high waisted jeans or high waisted shorts pretty much every day with some sort of looser top. I have a lot of cropped baggy tops, too. I hate tight tops for some reason. I wear a lot of black, grey, and white. Oh and boots-I have several pairs of Frye and my favorite are Fiorentini and Baker. I also love oxfords. All my boots and shoes are black-I don't really wear anything brown.

I just got a new job where I'll be wearing business clothes and I'm sort of looking forward to it! I bought some stuff from J. Crew and I'll get some more when they add new styles I like. (I'm picky and I got everything I wanted already.) I can't wait to pretend to be preppy!

Hi! I have not been to gap body recently, however I'm going to have to check it out considering I am in the market for some nice long sleeved shirts.

Those BCBGs sound wicked! I'm trying to get flat suede boots to test out the over the knee trend-- whenever I wear anything different from my basic wardrobe, everyone that knows me says that I look ridiculous :(sad I think that it's going to be tough to find boots that aren't too loose. Most of the circumferences seem rather large and I have very small legs. I've actually considered starting a boot thread over in shopping because it is just so difficult to find a great boot.

And as for northface weather--- I can't wait. Fall is my favorite. I have two denali jackets (one light green and one black) that I wear every second of my life in chilly weather and constantly get made fun of for it. I wear them inside and out-- I never take my jacket off unless it is to wash it or sleep!

Have you checked out linea pelle for belts? I usually don't wear belts, but some of my friends have a few linea pelle belts that are super gorgeous.

About uggs... I've worn them religiously for years despite the fact that they are horribly ugly...but this season I'm trying to get away from them and get cute boots . I've never tucked my pants into my uggs (thank god) but they still look gross even peeking out under my jeans :nono: They are comfortable, but I'm going to try my best not to wear the same clothes as my boyfriend's 16 year old sister this year!

T shirt + sneakers .

Is "lazy" a style? Jeans and t-shirts have always been my favorite. But I must say, they are always clean before I wear them!
Seriously, jeans and t-shirts every day. 365 days a year. Even in the hot Texas summers. This summer I bought the first pair of shorts I've owned in a very long time...I have been more involved in outside activities with my dog and it was just too hot for jeans!

I forgot to mention that I never wear dresses and I rarely weaar skirts. I'm most comfortable in pants and I just don't think dresses or most skirts look good with my body type.

My most favorite things to wear are yoga pants, tshirts, shorts, and sweats. I can't wear them at work, obviously, unless it's pajama day at school. That's my favorite day of the year! :cheeky:

Most definitely! I love color and rarely wear blacks and browns, especially when it comes to accessories. My favorite pair of shoes are lime green and hot pink (on the same shoe) just to give you an idea. I have almost a uniform, in the summer I wear almost exclusively dresses with flip flops or heels and I pair my outfits with flowered headbands and knit scarves. Occasionally if I'm feeling crazy I'll wear shorts- I just got a really cute pair of silk shorts for fall I'm quite excited about. In the winter I also almost exclusively wear dresses just paired with fun colored and patterened stockings, boots or heels, and I wear cardigans instead of jackets.

I work in a law office, so I am expected to be business casual. West Coast is more casual then East Coast, where I've been told they tend to wear suits more often. So, I am often in wool slacks, top, and heels. Suits for court. I prefer color, so I have a range of different color clothing - I seem to be drawn to blues, kelly greens, corals, slate grey, and softer purples. I guess you can say I dress preppy with some girly thrown in.

At home, I change into yoga pants and a t-shirt. For weekends, jeans, t-shirt or top. Flats or sneakers. I'm casual.

Great thread! Ok so I work in admin so at work it's smart pants and crisp shirts and low heels or a shift dress with stockings etc.

On weekends I'm sorta smart casual - bootleg jeans (I'm short so find they are most flattering) with a nice top, tailored jacket and lots of jewellery and my leather mocasins.

Going out might be tight jeans, sky high heels and a slinky top, again lots of jewellery! Love dresses in summer.

Generally I think I'm a bit mature and boring style-wise for my age (25), probably could be a bit more "trendy" but I prefer to buy a few classic pieces and spend my money on jewellery! :naughty: Most of my wardrobe is black, blue, cream, grey etc with just hints of colour. I tend to pick my jewellery first then add clothes.... I'll always buy wool/cashmere clothes, leather shoes etc. Best I can afford rather than lots of things.

My style overall (I hope) is classic and tasteful.

I definitely do. The funny thing is, my best friend is a clothes horse, and she's always wearing whatever the new trendy thing is, so I always felt unfashionable next to her. However, I realized over time that while she chases trends, I have more of a classic style that's very "me" that I feel most comfortable in.

I wear a lot of dresses & skirts, jewel tones, black tops & jeans. I rarely wear prints, and really like solid colors. My "casual" uniform is a solid-color top (usually balck) with a flattering/sexy cut, with boot cut jeans, and either ballet flats or high-heel strappy shoes in a bold color like red or purple. My "dressy" look is generally black or solid jewel tone dresses with heels. Because I wear a lot of black and denim, I always wear an expensive, leather bag in a color like red or teal - I almost never use a black or brown bag. My bags and shoes are always the focal point of my outfit, since I favor more classic cut clothing. Of course, I also put a lot of focus on my jewelry, which is why I like solid colored clothes, so my diamonds really shine!

I think of myself as being generic or lack of style (I really just try to be invisible), but if you were to categorize I have a graduate school look.

Khakis, with finished tee or tank topped by either a button down sweater or woven blouse, or a sweater twinset. I'm kind of like mister rogers, always taking on or off a button down sweater. Everything in neutral like colors.
Comfortable shoes I try to find for cheap (right now into a modified mary jane look).
Timex watch, usually some kind of earring (either gold ball studs, semi precious stone and silver earrings, or my diamond studs), and my anniversary ring.

Off work I like tanks and shorts and sandals in summer, or a cute shift like dress, with less diamond and more peridot or turquoise jewelry.

I admire people who can put together an outfit but for me it is often about something to cover my body in the most efficient way possible. Let's just say i'm a work in progress.

When I was in highschool I wore jeans and plaid shirts, and thrifted clothes. Back then I honestly didn't care what people thought of me, but now I try to avoid clothing with holes and rips, or marks on them, and replace my shoes when they have holes or are falling apart.

What I DON'T like: I'm really not in the overly casual look and so don't own any sweatpants, sneakers, crocs, or teeshirts with logos, etc on them, or wearing athletic clothes in non-athletic situations. I know i'm in the minority here.

I am in the process of losing weight. (Twenty pounds down, forty to go)
I work in a blue collar job, and so my everyday is a black t-shirt and jeans, with sneakers.

I wish I had effortless style, and I wish I looked better in dresses.

OT, but can anyone point me into a direction to where I can learn about men's style? I am dating someone with Asperberger's and he has asked me to start choosing his clothes. I'm at a loss! My ex was a good dresser and didn't like my input!

Jeans, graphic t's and flip flops if I'm not at work. 360 days a year. Here in South Florida we get about 5 days a year where a sweater is more appropriate.

I've been considering a style change as I'll be turning 30 next week and still dress like i did when I was 17 and I still get carded for lotto tickets and asked when I will graduate fairly often so I also still look 17. While that's nice sometimes when I want to be taken seriously, it's not, and I feel while I look young in the face, my clothes absolutely help people in thinking I'm still a teenager.

When I'm in college or just lounging around I wear jeans and a fitted top. However if I'm going out at all I love to wear dresses with petticoats underneath or a nice skirt and top combo. I always wear a pair of heels with them. I don't really care what's in fashion-I just like what I like. Dresses that are fitted at the top and flare out just past the waist look best on me.

I like wearing classic basics and omph them up with one piece of accessory.

My typical work day wear would consist of a pencil skirt from Tristan with either a blouse+cardigan from Banana Republic or a simple camisole with a raw silk jacket. If my blouse/jacket is plain, I'll wear a funky piece of jewelry or a silk scarf. And I finish the look off with a yummy handbag.

On weekends, I love wearing jeans with a pretty blouse or a fitted jacket. I'm not into t-shirts and sweatpants (unless I'm at home/gym).

It's funny, my coworker and I were just discussing the three types of dressing styles we see around here at the office. I broke them down into three categories:

1. Styled/accessorized. Wears styled and accessorized outfits, as I like to call them. Always with the good shoes. Would blend in on Sex and the City. Casual days mean high heels, dressy jeans and fabulous accessories.

2. Made the effort. Usually black or neutral pants with a colorful top/blouse. Breaks out the casual shoes and jeans for Fridays but still wears a nice top.

3. Sloppy. Think flip flops (NOT the dressy kind) with slacks, track suits on business days etc... Casual day means sweat pants and a baggy T or sweatshirt.

I fall into the second category. :loopy: My work wardrobe is black pants and a colorful top/blouse. Casual day sees me in jeans and a fitted V - neck t-shirt for the most part. I am the proud owner of a turqoise trench coat, and that's about as crazy as I've gotten, LOL. I have a plethora of v neck t shirts and funky colored blouses for work.

Shoes. Alas, foot problems mean no heels for the gecko. ;( Which sucks. So I wear pretty basic black flats most of the time. I completely and totally envy woment that can wear heels. So jealous. I also wish I had the funky sense of style the coworker I was having this conversation with possesses!

No, I wouldn't know style if it jumped up and bit me in the behind. When I worked for SF, the Agent's wife helped out sometimes and she has beautiful taste. Makes her own jewelry and just always put together. I'm envious of people who can do that.

I've been wearing a lot of scrub pants and tshirts even when I'm not at work. If we go someplace, jeans and a nice top. Part of it, I'm just not very comfortable w/my body right now, so I don't really bother.
