I drove my first vehicle for 8 years, I''m working on 9 years with my current vehicle (both Ford Rangers). I have always wanted a Volvo, but I don''t love them as much since they were purchased by Ford. I love the Saab SUV, I love Subaru Outbacks, I love the Buick Enclave, I love VW Passats. So I have a few cars in mind. The time for a new car for me will be sooner rather than later, but it could be another year from now; my truck is holding up quite nicely, but it''s time for me to drive an adult car.
ooohh the VOLVO xc90-- love love love.. then I love the BMW X5 too! never test drove one though.
I love the XC90, but they''re so expensive, I''d end up with either an S60, S50, or an XC60 (I think I have the letters/numbers right). I''m not a big BMW fan, but I do love Infinitis.

we have dogs, so we need a car with storage in the back. currently i drive a Volvo AWD XC70, and i love it. in about 2 years we plan to trade it in on an XC90.

all my cars are navy blue. no matter which make or model, i do navy blue. i like it - i think it''s understated and non-faddish. current volvo is navy blue, next volvo will be the same. previous alfa navy blue, nissan navy blue, eunos navy blue, mitsubishi navy blue, mazda navy blue...you get the picture. i once had a white ford - it didn''t last.

lol... navy blue gal!

I have switched up from White to Silver to White then back to Silver (civic) now I"m stuck on Silver

When this car dies, I''m hiring a chauffeur. I''m kind of tired of driving myself everywhere.

Well right now I still have my first car, a used 96 Toyota Camry with a reconstructed title. I bought it with over 100,000 miles on it and now it has close to 175,000 miles. I love it so much, but we were planning on selling it, then my BF got into a car accident in his 2000 Camry. So now we have mine, but have to buy a new car.
We are definitely looking into a Toyota Corolla or a Honda Civic. Right now I would love it if we could get a 2006 Civic over a 2006 Corolla. The 06 Civics are sooo nice, and I love them. The 05''s just aren''t as nice. Or I would love to get a hybrid, Civic hybrid or a Prius I would love to have that gas mileage!

We recently bought an SUV to accommodate our dogs, but we kept our first car, which now has over 150K miles on it and is still going strong! We joke that we are going to replace it with a rocketship because the think will last that long.

In reality, we will probably replace it with a vehicle that can fit 3 newfoundlands and 2 children. So, a semi?

I currently drive a Toyota Avalon that just won''t die! I have been visiting dealerships in my area and eyeing the Nissan Murano. I want one with heated seats.... I like my buns all warm and toasty in the winter. The salespeople said they are fighting to see which one of them will buy my Avalon when I trade it in.
oooh I love the way those look as well.

I had an Audi A4 with those butt warmers. It made me feel like I peed myself

but it sure was nice during the Winter months after a snowstorm and skiing all day.
lol

One of my first cars was a Toyota Corolla and I paid $3200.00 for it new in 1979 (stick shift) and 4 years later I sold it for $3200.00 and bought a Toyota Celica that I drove for 13 years and traded that in for the Avalon.

I drive cars until they die, literally. My last car was a Cavalier and I didn''t purchase a new car until my poor Cavi left me stranded in the middle of the highway.

My corolla will be my car for many, many years. But after it passes, my next will be a Lexus (here''s hoping Lexus survives the next 8 to 10 years

the new Lexus ISC looks very nice

i saw a Lexus LS 600 H in the showroom three weeks ago, $122K

guess i''m stuck with my 01 Toyota truck for awhile

I don''t want to consider a new car yet, I just got my truck broke in. (218k miles and still running strong

)

Well, in theory, we shouldn''t have to buy new cars for a LONG time, but if I had to pick from what''s availiable currently, I have to admit that I really like the Ford Fusion Hybrid. I really would like a hybrid and I would like to buy American the next go around, so that''s my pick.

We have a Mercedes GL and BMW 535i so we should be okay for a while. Just hope I don''t have another car accident anytime soon.

OMG.

I draw the line at if I can buy real estate for the same price, it's definitely a no-go in this lifetime. I guess I'm naive. I had no idea that a Lexus would cost that much. Nope. Toyota works just fine for me. Did I mention I'm not a big driver? My car is 3 years old and only has 10,000 *kms* on it. Don't know how many miles that is....

ETA: that's 6200 miles
31.gif

We have 5 cars between the 2 of us. (stupid, I know)
Our 2000 Navigator is showing signs it might be time to replace it.
I don''t want to, but if I have to, maybe a Tahoe, not too fancy,
need the size and something to haul groceries and plants in, a few longer road trips.

After a 2002 Landrover Freelander from HELL, I''m digging my 2005 Rav 4 (had 3 yrs now)... but if money was no option next go round I''d upgrade to a Lexus! My DH is thinking of trading his Miata (summer car) and non-4WD Jeep (winter car) in for a *single* car that doesn''t make me nervous when he drives it! LOL. That Miata is tiny! It has to have high gas mileage & AWD/4WD ... pre-owned Subaru Foresters have come up as an option. Haven''t gotten too far w/it yet.

I''d like something w/3rd row seating if possible, and bigger than my Ford Escape. It was fine until the 2nd child came, and now there''s just not enough room. I got a brochure on the Kia Borrega, but they''re new, so I don''t know much about them.

HI:

I''d like to get rid of the Honda SUV and MB CLK; keep Acura and get another car with 4WD. DH wants a big sedan--a MB S550 4matic and get rid of SUV, keep CLK (only driven in summer) and keep the new Acura. bah. I say only 2 cars, with 4WD, is good enuf--who needs more?? Apparently we do....(should add this to Basil''s thread in Family.....LOL)

cheers--Sharon

I think we''ll be keeping our cars for a while. I just bought my 08 VW R32, and my husband''s 06 STI was his engagement gift, so that sucker''s staying in our garage forever.
11.gif

Realistically, his car is about to be paid off (2 more months!) and mine has 2 more years
3.gif
. I think I may try and find a Porsche 993 for a decent price as a play car once we have no more payments.

I found a white 95 993 in Reno this past week at an astonishingly low price given the condition, and my husband had to literally scoop me out of the driver''s seat so the shop owner could lock it up and close for the night.
9.gif

Meanwhile, my husband is shopping for old Ferrari F355 Challenges - as IF that''s going to happen. I''m not a sadist, but apparently, he is.

I have to second Subaru. I''ve never in my life owned a car with such fantastic reliability, and I actually considered the Forester and the STI when I was shopping for a car at the end of last year. Go drive one! Your husband will love it!

We are thinking of getting a classic old sports car which will remain with us always and I don''t plan on selling my existing car either, I love her!
what kind?
Triumph Stag, I had one years ago but at the time didn''t have a secure place to keep it so we will be looking for one soon which we will keep. They are around 30 or 40 years old so we will just keep it as a pampered fun car.
Now you''re talking! My all time favourite. Unless of course you consider that one that''s made down the road from where my sister lives!
emwink.gif

Right now I have a 2008 Mazda CX-9 which is fully loaded. It''s exactly what I want for the time being, and I will probably have it for the next 3 years (max).

When I trade her in, I will either be getting a Lexus LX, Range Rover, or BMW X6. Something a little more blingy.

I don''t keep cars long...and would trade my Mazda in tomorrow if I could get over how much I''d loose (since I paid cash, and always do for my cars)--although, my Mazda is pretty cool. In the meantime, I''m on a hunt for my DH''s classic car.

I get a new car every couple of years, and I''ll probably end up owning my current car for about 3 or 3.5 years. The next car will be a 2010/2011 Audi S5.

I''m not that into cars, but I do have one in mind. When my current car dies (''97 Toyota Camry) I''ll be getting another, newer Toyota Camry! I love the Camry and I think it''s just as good of a ride as a Lexus/BMW/any other status-y car. Hopefully my current one will keep going for a long time, though, because I love having a paid off car with cheap insurance!

Camrys are very dependable especially the older ones that were made in Japan, but a Camry is too sissy for a guy to drive.

Here you go Lorelei, if your going to get another one, you''d better join the UK Triumph Stag Owners Club

And for those on this side of the pond wondering what on earth we are talking about, here''s a 1974 model:

1974 triumph stag.jpg

I get the same car every time. This is number four of the same, a Mercedes Wagon. They are not selling them in the USA right now. Mine has 115k, and I plan to keep it as long as possible. Last time, no one even knew I got a new car because I got the same color again. DH drives a 1988 Mercedes, we bought it new twenty years ago and have no plans to sell that one either.

there are so many cool cars out there to choose from, but i''m pretty sure i want a saturn or a toyota, hopefully that''ll last me until i can dream of affording a water-engine vehicle.

I''m hoping my 10 year-old Subaru Legacy SUS lasts me another few years. It''s been incredibly reliable, I guess in part because I only have 70,000 miles on it, and I tend to keep up with the oil changes and stuff. Afterward I''ll probably get some sort of small hybrid, possibly a Toyota Prius or Honda Civic. What I don''t love about Subaru is the mediocre gas mileage. I wish Subaru would incorporate hybrid technology - I''ve been a believer ever since my parents bought their first hybrid a few years back (they have 3 hybrids now!).

I have a Toyota Prius right now and I wouldn''t even consider getting anything other than another Prius when this one dies
...unless any car company can come up with a hybrid or electric that''s better, i MAY consider it.

but I am sooo happy with my car

soocool...I have the Murano and it''s fabulous. My husband loves the heated seat. I can take it or leave it but it comes in handy when it''s freezing out there

We lease our cars since purchasing was not for us. My husband has a 3 yr itch when it comes to cars and the 2 cars we purchased in the past were a pita to trade it or sell. Now we lease(he uses it for work too) so we get a new car every 3 yrs. Our last 2 cars have been the Nissan Murano which I LOVE. We always buy Nissan. Now since our lease is up in November, we are thinking of taking the plunge into the Nissan Quest (mini-van). We have 3 kids and no room for anyone else in the car (my parents live near us and we don''t like not being able to bring them along to certain places). The mini-van plunge is huge for my husband which SWORE he would NEVER drive a mini-van. If we don''t get the Quest we will just get another Murano since we love them so much.
