BA in Psych and Mass Com, MA in Psychology

I have a BSc in Business and economics and am now doing my MSc (accounting and financial management). When I am finished I'll also have a MSc in International Management. Currently debating whether I should finish my law degree, this master has really kicked me in my non existing nuts and now all I dream of is getting to sleep  so the push to do that is rapidly dwindling.

Really interesting to hear what everyone is doing. So many different career paths, starting to feel a bit boring over my choices.

Yes, I do, in Communication Arts. Wish I would have majored in something different.

Hi,

Yes, i have a BA in Political Science with a minor in Economics.

Annette

My undergraduate degree is a masters degree, which I think is pretty much unique to the older Scottish universities? M.A.(Hons) in psychology. My proper batchelor's degree is a Batchelor of Laws, LLB. My law 'postgrad' is actually a diploma, PGDipLP, the qualification you need to practice law here.

When a woman gets one why don't they call it a bachelorette's degree, or better yet find another non-genderized term?

B.S. and M.S.

No.
Are you?

I am a lowly ASN (nursing), but I earn the same amount of $$ as my BSN/MSN co-workers, and I had waaaay less owed in student loans (7K vs. up to 80K!). If there were incentive for me to get my BSN I would, but right now we're having kids and working on the house, and I really have no desire to go back to school. Once we're done having kids I think I'll go back, though! I know a lot of hospitals aren't even hiring ASN nurses anymore!

Hi Lynnie- what is an ASN? I am not familiar with the term... but its been 26 years since I was in a hospital setting!

HI:

Yup. And more.

cheers--Sharon

A.S. Dental Hygiene. A higher degree was a waste in my career .

Yep, BS in Psych, and on my way to a masters of some sort...just have to decide what I want it in. :cheeky:

Pretty much the only reason I got my BSN was because they won't even consider hiring an ASN nurse, although I think so many of them know much more than BSN's.

What's ASN and BSN?

AS in EET so my answer was no.

I should've said 'I HAVE a lowly ASN'... it's bugging me that I missed my edit window!

I've been absent from PS for a while - I think the last time we 'talked' you had just finished school. Aren't you in the Philly area? Where did you end up getting a job? Yes, now a BSN is a must. I got hired at my hospital the last year they were hiring ASN nurses (6 years ago), now it's BSN only. I think all the major hospitals are. I will definitely have to go back to school if I ever want a job elsewhere (which I'm sure I would).

That is rather shocking, there is still a large shortage here.
One of my friends clients has been looking for a nurse for his office for 3 months now and my niece is a LPN and is getting dozens of calls from recruiters a month.
The larger hospitals prefer RN with BSN but they cant get enough of them.

Karl, I do believe it's a regional thing. Where are you located? I know Florida has a huge shortage of nurses (tons of retirees there). The big hospitals in the metro Philly area require a BSN. My hospital is now on a hiring freeze for nurses, unless approved by admin. It's a shame, we had an excellent extern that got his ASN and they wouldn't hire him.

Sorry for the threadjack, Kenny!

Bachelorette's in Science

I'm sorry, did you mean a Baccalaureate? Let's make sure to be as non-gender-specific as possible! :naughty:  ;))

I have a Bachelor in Accounting and a Master in Finance, plus a professional qualification (Chartered Accountancy).

looks like there are bunch of B.S. on PS...
