Do you buy a newspaper or read for free on-line?

We stopped our paper delivery back in April. I was so sick of missed deliveries, press problems in which no paper was issued for that day, cost, lack of quality, etc. It seemed whenever I read the paper I was reading the same articles and there were so many more ads than in previous years. So we decided to save $300.00 a year by just reading the news online for free.

Just had a call from the local paper and they want us back as a customer. They are even offering 50% off. So we would only pay about $150.00 for 12 months. DH said it was up to me and I feel like that is a $150.00 that I could use towards a pair of diamond huggies.

So do you buy your newpaper or read online for free?

I buy a Sunday paper for the sake of coupons. Otherwise I read online these days. Our paper posts pretty much everything on their website, so why not?

On line. I won't a pay a dime for the local papers. If I had an iPad, I would consider subscribing to the online NYT or WSJ.

When I read, I like to hold the paper or book in my hand--somehow it doesn't feel "real" unless I've held it. I have three newspapers delivered daily. And I have 12 books sitting next to my bed.....

Computers to me are more "have to" than "want to".

Definitely only read news online. I don't buy magazines anymore either. All the info that is out there can be found somewhere online for free.

On Line

I hate the newspaper - hate it. It clogs my life. I end up with crap all over my house and plans to clip coupons or whatever - I chose to nix the newspaper long before I realized I could just read it online... It's not even because it's free - it's because I don't have newspapers laying around my house that I procrastinate reading but think I should keep.

I do still buy mags - I didn't realize how much I liked them until we moved here and there is NEVER any american (or english speaking) mags anywhere that I can find. When we went to the states I bought about 12 back to just have some (haha) bathroom reading material!

I've been reading the news on line for about 7 or 8 years. We occasionally buy the Sunday paper for the coupons. The stacks of recycling around the house started to annoy me.

I have two newspapers delivered daily. I love sitting over the breakfast table, drinking my morning coffee, and reading the paper.

I get the Sunday edition of the NYT delivered. I particularly like to have a paper copy of the Book Review, and I relish my Sunday morning ritual of reading the paper over a great breakfast.

I can't keep up with the daily editions during the school year, so that's why we only get the Sunday edition.

We don't have any local papers delivered.

This may sound odd, but I HATE the feel of newprint, therefore, I've never bought a newspaper or read one cover to cover. I get my news online and by watching the news. Sometimes I listen to NPR in the car on the way to work.

I buy the Sunday paper from the people on the corner for $1 so I can get the coupons. I might read the real estate section and Parade, but I read the news online. I'm a CNN junkie.
