Do these proportions raise any red flags?

Hello everyone. I am a long time lurker, first time poster.

I am considering purchasing the following diamond:

.71, AGS 0, H&A, E, SI1

The AGS report states the measurements as follows:

Depth % - 61.5%
Table % - 57%
Crown angle - 35.5
Pavilion angle - 40.8
Crown height - 15.4%
Pavilion depth - 43.0%
Girdle - faceted, 1.2% - 4.0% (thin to slightly thick)
Culet - pointed

When I ran these through the free HCA on PS the diamond received a 2.6, very good. I was alarmed because this is the first AGS 0 that has received less than an excellent when I ran the numbers through the HCA. I double checked the information on the cert at agslab.com and the information is consistent.

Is it worth purchasing the stone to inspect it myself or do these numbers raise a red flag for any of you on the forums. The price is right (almost too right) and that bothers me as well. Unfortunately, I am a glass half-empty, if it is too good to be true it probably is type, so I am having second thoughts on pulling the trigger on this stone.

Any advice/encouragement would be greatly appreciated. You guys are all really knowledgeable and I really value your opinion!

The crown angle is perhaps a touch steep (34-35 degrees is what we normally look for).

Is it possible to get an Idealscope image for the diamond?

Thanks for the response Cleo! I will request an Idealscope image. What are the consequences of the crown angle being a bit too steep?

Hi Max,

Cleo is right and gives good advice, and the IS will give us more info. The crown angle could be fine and work well with the pav angle, if so then the diamond could lend itself to a touch of extra fire if the light is right. Or there is albeit a small possibility that if there could be a little leakage of light which the IS would show, so it is good to get one if you can, especially as the diamond scored over 2 on the HCA. But it could be a lovely diamond and well worth the further investigation.
