Yes.

Now if you guys can PLEASE just tell me which convertible car seat to choose, I would really appreciate.

Thanks in advance.

Reccaro. It rear faces until your baby is 4. She''ll love you for that as you roll up to preschool.

Yep. The nice thing is that it''s been a good influence. I really like the financial, relationship and general life advice that''s posted on here.

Although, my wallet isn''t so happy. Especially when I found the Colored Gem forum.

I love learning from other people, whether it''s about jewelry, recommendations for a great recipe or book to read, or other things. I think TGal said this too, but I love learning people''s views on life. PS is an interesting place, one where you can go to HH or FHH (and other forums) and read about practically everything under the sun. That''s fun.

I''m not much of a shopper in general, but there have definitely been things I''ve purchased that were recommended here.

One place I found particularly helpful and influential a while back was the Healthy Lifestyles forum. I have to admit, it''s been a really long time since I''ve participated or lurked, but when I was doing really well with my diet and exercise goals, I loved getting motivation from everyone there. I fell off the wagon and I think I''m nervous to go back because everyone else has kept up with it (as far as I know).

I love lurking in the mommies threads, and I learn new things there every day. We don''t have kids yet and the jury''s still out on that one, but I love reading about child development and different theories. Plus, PSers make gorgeous kids, and I feel like I "know" so many of them! Hopefully that doesn''t sound creepy.

Yes, I am influenced by PSers.

Sometimes I see people talk about new products they''ve used or things they''ve done and it makes me want to try them too. Travel advice is wonderful here and I find myself learning so much about other places even just from other people posting about their own vacations and trips. I don''t ask for advice often, but when I have I think I''ve really tried to take into account the advice I''ve gotten before making a decision on what to do. When I ask for advice, I genuinely want opinions and different points of view. It really helps to hear other perspectives because often things I post about on here wouldn''t be things I would discuss IRL with friends.

I love reading the pregnant PSers thread and TTC threads (I''m always lurking!) - DH and I are not ready for that step yet, but I do learn a lot from the discussions there and when the time comes for DH and I to TTC and (hopefully) get pregnant, I''m sure there will be tons of things that I learn from there that I will apply to my own life and may influence my decisions.

1) Education - Colored Stones Forum.
2) Good sources for finding stones
3) Bargaining! I never used to do it - now I am trying to.
4) I really like it when people support each others'' efforts to create new jewelry - everyone gets a kind word, a compliment. I think it is very nice and gracious.
5) Some people are just nice and seem to know how to enjoy life.

Hangout doesn''t influence me but it is interesting to know other people''s opinions and personalities.
I think Who Is Who is very interesting.

Ironically (fittingly?) TGal herself was tremendously influential by pointing me in the right direction as far as our immigration went; this fall I will be going through the last leg of a paperwork journey that has been ongoing since ''06!

PS also influenced me to stop caring about about how engagements ''should'' go, because there are plenty of trailblazing women who cast off the staid traditions of how engagements and e-rings ''should'' be done. In learning about diamonds, I realized that you don''t have to have one to be engaged, and that ultimately the ''right'' way to do things is what you and your SO want to do. But not to forget that it''s what ''you'' (plural) not ''you'' (singular) want to do, which is often difficult for the independently-minded ladies that flock to PS.

Although I have not seen her on the boards lately, LadyKemma permanently changed my approach to hair care and I now rock hair that would make Rapunzel jealous. That''s been a lasting and permanent influence, for sure.

Edit: and PS also convinced me to get the lovely placeholder ring set in my avatar which I take off only for showering and anything that would damage the antiquing, like harsh chemical cleaners.

I've definitely been enabled to buy a few things like the circle of life necklace (thanks to Mara!), an ultrasonic cleaner, Cartier inspired trinity ring on rollingring.com and a few other assorted goodies! I love the support system with our mommy group and really appreciate all the suggestions and advice I get there. TGal, I agree with your toy thread too--I've now made a list of great ideas for gifts! I've also gotten great tips on restaurants, vacations, cameras and tons of other things.

I don't really post about very personal issues and don't ask for advice on my marriage, etc. but I do enjoy reading all the various posts regardless of my personal views or opinions. I'm constantly impressed by many of the eloquent posts I read here. Many times, I don't even really care about the topic but I'm drawn to some people's posts because I love to hear how they express themselves. And although I've never met any PS-ers in real life, I feel like I've made some real friends here and that is priceless to me.

I have definitely learned to think for myself. That might sound weird, but I always think really deeply when it comes to the thread and I think that they have helped think of things in my own life. For these reasons I chilled out, removed myself from the LIW (im 22 for cryin'' out loud

) and I have great resources that I can come to when the times comes...

I also LOVE the jewelry. I would have NEVER found out about OMC''s which are my favorite cut in the whole wide world. I have also learned to respectfully agree to disagree MUCH BETTER than before ever being here.

Absolutely. For one, they have made me not only diamond and gemstone crazy, they have educated me SO much on what a really good stone is. I think of it as a wonderful education, BF sees it as something very, very scary!

I love to come to PSer''s for advice. Most of you are older than me or my friends, so I think you have a lot I can learn from. And this community is of people from all walks of life, I love that!

Can you help a sister out and point me in the direction of this advice?

Haha, sure! She mentioned she was part of the Long Hair Community forums (you have never seen so many gorgeous updos in your life!

At first, you may be pummelled with a ton of new things to try, but your patience will be rewarded if you try things out- eventually you will find a routine that you hair likes. Mine''s settled down to the Condition, Wash, Condition method, coconut oil deep conditioning while I shave, wearing buns almost every day with a hairstick to avoid elastic damage and too much strain on the roots. No heat styling (I roll my side-swept bangs into a twist when it''s wet and then back into a bun, gives me a perfect wave) and NO SILICONE. Hisss. If it''s got a -cone it in, it''s banned to SO''s side of the shower. Wooden bristled brushes and a lovely fine comb for when I want to comb camellia oil into ends threatening to get dry and frizzy so they become soft and glossy.

Also, when you start trying things out, treat it like a food allergy test: add one element at a time so you can tell what your hair thinks of it. No one''s hair is the same, and what''s a holy grail treatment for one person may turn your hair into an angry ball of frizz that may hate you for a week. There''s a wide range of backgrounds with some elements more prevalent there than others, but the ladies really know their stuff and will be happy to answer questions.

PSers have made me much more open to having kids. I've never really been a kid person and I don't really have any friends with kids, but thanks to the PS ladies and their updates about their kds, I can actually imagine DH and I having a little baby of our own someday. I feel like I've learned a lot about what to expect and how rewarding it can be and it's helped me take an emotional step towards being a mom. I knew I'd want one 'someday' and the PS mommies are making that more of a reality.
Hahaha...I think the nicest backhanded compliment I got on PS was about this. I don't remember if it was ChinaCat or LAJennifer, but someone said 'if TGal can handle having kids, I think I can too.'

Guilty (and T-Gal, you are a terrific mommy role model).

And yes, I'm definitely influenced by long time pricescopers. There was a thread on favorite drugstore finds - I still use the Softsoap honey body wash, CG Lash Exact, Aveeno shave cream, and Bain de Luxe body scrub. I love to make Skippy's Biscochitos during the holiday season. AND I am dying to live in a Purple House.

Oh how I wish I could count the ways. Oh wait, I probably could if I checked my bank statements! ::::shaking fist like BEG:::::

I just need to start working on my custom ring obsession, but my granddaughter is so freaking cute that I get sidetracked by baby items.

Custom ring?! Do tell! And yes, your granddaughter is adorable!!

Oh my goodness yes! Most, almost all purchases are a big deal to me and my BF. We look into and research almost anything that could last us awhile. PS is the perfect place to get honest opinions on EVERYTHING. I''m currently trying to get BF interested in a food processor that a few PSer''s seemed to really like.
A lot of topics that get discussed on PS are things I hadn''t thought about and it''s usually a good time for BF and I to have our own conversation.
PS has also gotten me into thinking a lot about what I want to do when the time comes for BF and I want to start a family. I love lurking on the mommy threads too, and PS babies are just beyond adorable and the stories are so moving!

I try not to ask for personal advice, but it''s really nice to know that if there is something I wanted an opinion on, there are people who are willing to try and help by giving you some serious advice or just lending an ear.

I think PS is a great place to get a bunch of different perspectives in one convenient place! I love hearing what other people have to say and the varying advice they give on a certain topic. Sometimes I find myself thinking, "huh..xyzPSer made a really good point. I would have never thought of it that way" etc. So yes, PSers do influence my life!

God that seems so long ago. Sorry your time in the US has been so tough..but I take it that all was worth it to be with your man?

A lot of people here have actually taught me to take things with a grain of salt... I am really grateful for that!

haha to the water thing!!! I''ll give it a whirl... cold water? I mean... diff from simply washing in the shower?

I also wanted to come back and say that my ideas of quality jewelry and what kinds of jewelry I want have been influenced by the threads here. I''ve learned a ton about colored gemstone quality as well. I love looking at the threads to get ideas for projects.

Having heard so much great stuff about the baby threads, I am going to venture in and start reading through them this weekend, for the sake of ideas and knowledge.

I also have been strongly influenced by the STRENGTH I see from so many of the posters on this forum. Women with different ailments, illnesses, loss of family, early child loss, relationships up and down, losing animals, facing new jobs, new homes, new places, new lifestyles, new marriages.... you guys are all so very inspiring... and you inspire me to keep going on my down days... and the support here is absolutely astounding. I''ve yet to ever see so much support from one group of folks.

seeing as i never even owned a gemstone before joining, the answer would be YES!

I have learned so much about diamonds and colored stones.
For that I thank you all.
For the 70+ rings I now own with more on the way
............not so much.

Working out well over here! I can hardly remember what it used to look like before. And YEAH!! -- PSers def influenced me to "go for it" - though I surely couldn't have w/o DH's equal enthusiasm.

I think influence and inspiration go hand and hand. Been INSPIRED countless times -- either by a person's unique qualities/values/perspectives or more tangible stylistic details (especially when wedding planning).

Love this diverse, amazing group of people & the place we congregate!

PSers definitely influence me! The posters here are such an educated, articulate, knowledgeable bunch. I think PSers have helped me refine my tastes, figure out what I really like, and purchase things--all sorts of things--in a smarter, savvier way.

As far as jewelry goes, I''ve definitely bought into the idea of a diamond "wardrobe," and I''m very satisfied with my post-PS purchases. I can''t even imagine going into a jewelry store and buying something "off the rack" anymore. Sure, my wallet has suffered a little, but the marginal value of my pieces has gone up tremendously.

I also love reading realistic accounts of others'' life experiences; people are often so refreshingly honest about their own lives, successes, and mistakes. The various threads about parenthood and the journey there have given me such a wonderful perspective about motherhood. Although I feel like I may know more about pregnancy than I probably should, PSers have changed the way I approach the idea of future children. I like making (very) informed decisions, and I think I now know better which factors should influence my decision to become a mother and when that should happen.

Influenced is a pretty strong word, but there isn''t a day I don''t come to PS and don''t learn something worthwhile. I would certainly say that my life is certainly enriched by PS members.

And maybe this is the appropriate place to say that I just love every word PurrectPear utters. She is a Goddess of common sense and "telling it like it is". Long may you reign PP
35.gif

"Do your fellow PSers influence you in anyway?"

Not at my age. I am who I am. What someone else likes, dislikes, has, does not have, etc. doesn''t really affect me.

As a person I am not easily influenced by others, but my engagement ring design definitely was!

I am not above being influenced. Also, I take bribes.

Seriously, though, I have gained an enormous amount of knowledge from Pricescope during the years I''ve spent here, and a lot of it has definitely influenced my decisions. I''m referring to fact, not others'' opinions or tastes, though. So many products are road-tested by members and then reviewed here that it''s sort of like my Consumer Reports.
