I had a bunch of people asking me way in advance to put up a registry. I didn''t really want to because I am really bad at receiving gifts but FI and family finally talked me into it saying how much people need direction and blah blah blah.
So, FI and I decided to register at BB&B. Reasoning that, since we have people from all over the US, an online site would be easiest. We already shop there for our household needs as they have alot of the styles we like and better prices then most places in the area. They send out 20% off on one item coupons all the time here in California where we are from that you can use even if they are expired.
So, here is the issue, I have had three people ask about it since we put it up and when we tell them they have made the following comments:
"why don''t you register at Macy''s"
"I want to buy you guys something but I am not getting it there, I will pick up something on my own"
"you need to register elsewhere to give people more choices"
So, the whole Macy''s thing I dont get because they have some of the same exact stuff but for more money, so why go there. I have no issue with people picking out something on there own (Personally i would prefer no gifts since they make me feel akward but personal gifts are nice). And the more choices thing? I just dont get. We have a variety of items like kitchen/bed/bath/decorative. And a large range of prices from $5 - $200 to incorporate people who want to go in on something with someone else. I finally asked that person what they meant and they said we could register for some of the same stuff at amazon, plus add books and such. HUH? why register for the same stuff somewhere else? And I thought registring for things like books and dvds and stuff was frowned down upon..
Anyway, as I was writing, our wedding is in 13 days. Not one of our registry items have been purchased. I know we didnt have a shower or anything and out here it is more common to bring a gift to a wedding rather then send it ahead of time but..stilll... does that seem odd to you? Think they all just hate that place, lol?
