... than they really are?

I think so!

I don't know about most women but I think I suffer from the opposite problem. I'll think I look really good, but then I'll see a picture and think "Holy moly! Are my arms really that thick?!" or "I didn't know I have two chins!"

I think it's better to walk around thinking I look better than I really do, though. At least I don't suffer from low self esteem or anything. :cheeky:

Have you watched Jerry Springer lately?? Some of those outfits the rather plump girls put on are INSANE. And they think they look good!!

I hate pics of myself now.
I'm old and fat, but at least I know it. ;(

Oh Haven, The camera adds 10 lbs!!! I am sure you look as good as you think. Dont go by pictures!! Some people photograph better than other's---I am NOT one of those people-lol!! Besides, theres all sorts of tricks w/camera angles to make you look better (like take the picture from above to avoid the double chin effect---ask a taller person than you to take it and you'll look great!)

And yes, I'd rather think I look good than walk around insecure!!! :D

Same as Haven-

I am positive that I think I'm thinner than I am. Then I see a picture and ....

I'm mentally a thin girl in a fat body. hahahaha

I thought you lost a bunch of weight ?

You're so sweet, lbbaber. I still think I look good, despite all the bad pictures. :cheeky:

I usually try to tilt my chin down to avoid the double chin, but DH's cousin fancies himself a photographer, and he sneaks around family functions and gets pictures of everyone at their very worst. I have more double-chin-huge-arms photos from him than I care to admit. It is interesting how I will sometimes think I look great in one photo, and terrible in the next, and they'll both be from the same event! I really need to learn how to pose.

I do weigh less than before ... but still . . . :blackeye:

I don't think I look heavier than I actually am. I just know that I am not as skinny as what other people think I am. They just can't see the belly pouch and muffin top because I hide them under clothes.

OMG!!! I think the same thing!!! I think it is the better of the 2- I'd rather feel great about myself than not.

Oh good, another thread about women feeling bad about themselves!

Posing and camera angles makes all the difference. My MIL is super short and she takes all the pics so I am forever doomed to having a double chin in photos

I want one of Kenny's cameras :D

I'm another one who thinks they look thinner than they really are (denial is a wonderful thing). For my age/height/weight I think
I carry it pretty well. I just wish it wouldnt move so much when I carry it :(( .

It ain't just women.
Men also feel pressure to look young and thin.

My 9yo cousin has his own camera and enjoys sneaking around taking photos of unsuspecting victims - rather like your DH's cousin Haven! Though since he's all of 4 feet tall the pics are - unique, to say the least.

I uploaded the first couple dozen and discovered that at some point he'd somehow managed to focus perfectly on my left nostril from frighteningly close range

Then why does the title say women?

The law says it had to match DF's thread.

You are free to start any thread you want, within PS rules and I am free to not open it.

I'd never try to control what others post.

I'm not trying to control what you post. People vary, etc., etc. I am saying it gets old that the 2 men who post on PS start sexist threads.

I don't understand how kenny is being sexist...?

I think having 2 threads back to back, started by men, about women thinking they look fat and old is a bit much. I guess sexist isn't quite the right word. I'm kind of sick and not articulating my thoughts well today.

ETA the focus on the appearance of women is misogynistic and it gets annoying.

I saw a tip somewhere (BWW or a wedding photographers site) about avoiding this.

Make sure you are looking straight --- if you tilt your chin down, it causes the double-chin to either appear or get worse.

Shhhhh----
I've actually tried this in a mirror and seen myself and.... it's true. NEVER NEVER NEVER look down :errrr:

It appears that kenny thinks anyone who disagrees with another human being, including him, is intolerant. If that's the case, I'm the most intolerant person in the world. I HAVE SO MANY OPINIONS. SO MANY.
