Do I take a chance with overstock?

While looking for an engagement ring my girlfriend found this ring and fell in love with the "vintage" look of the ring.

It falls in my price range $1k - $2k, but after researching some on this site I am now hesitant to buy from Overstock. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I could find a vintage looking ring very similar to this one from a reputable seller? Or should I go ahead and take a chance with Overstock knowing I may not be happy with the quality of the ring but knowing that she would be completely happy with the design of the ring?

As if picking out the right girl to last a lifetime isn''t enough, we also have to pick out the right ring to last a lifetime.

I''d pass. It has no cut information, and the clarity is I1. There are plenty of beautiful vintage style rings out there that''ll likely sparkle a lot more.

I did a little searching and couldn't find a setting quite like the one from Overstock, but you could do a single halo (with a ~.50 ct. ideal cut princess) to achieve an antique look:

I''ll run the Beverly K ring by her tomorrow. I was leery of pricing on a custom project. Do you think they would get anywhere close to the $1,500 - $2k price range? I guess it never hurts to ask right? Thanks for the quick response and the searching help! It is greatly appreciated.

Well, this one from James Allen looks pretty similar, except for the halo, the miligrain, and the pricetag.

The thing is, it looks like your GF likes very ornate settings, yes? And maybe the specific combo of antique setting, modern stone? That''s a pricey combination.

It could also be that one ring, though, so if she''s open to other possibilities, I''d recommend looking for actual vintage rings, which tend to be more affordable, and going through dealers with good reputations. Jewels by Erica Grace is one of my favorites .... If you tell us a bit more about what you''re looking for - must haves and dealbreakers - maybe we can help you look! ''Cause, with something like an e-ring, I''d be leery of Overstock, too ....

Two other options that I am seriously taking a look at are:

1. Going ahead and order the ring, I can return it if it turns out to be a dud

2. Since she is in love with the setting, get it with the intent of replacing the main stone somewhere down the line when I can afford to get a proper diamond.

Look carefully into their return policy if you do decide to order it.

I ordered a bunch of clothes from them a couple of years ago, none of it fit, and I was hit with hefty restock charges. They may have changed their restock charging policies, but ask first! And get the answer in writing.

I''m pretty sure that they would not come near that price trying to using 1 1/3 carat of well cut stones. Sorry

The Bev K with a .5 would probably be your best bet to get a quality ring.

I agree with this.

Overstock is a good place to pick up basics like lightweight 14K chains and inexpensive plain-gold studs, but no way would I buy an e-ring there, especially not an I1 diamond with no cut specs.

Also, if she likes that style go to newyorkestatejewelry.com They have rings in the $1000 - $2000 range that have alot of look for the money.
