Do you think I need to purchase an Idealscope to evaluate the cut of this diamond?
We purchased this diamond and will be setting it in a ring in 2 weeks. No idealscope picture was provided by the vendor at the time of purchase. I narrowed down to this particular stone by evaluating based on this priority:
1. Cut – EX on GIA, EX on polish and symmetry, and HCA value of 1.3 (61.7% depth, 56% table, 34.5 crown angle, 40.8 pavilion angle, 15 % crown depth, 43% pavilion depth, medium girdle, no cutlet)
2. Color – F
3. Clarity – VS2 (cloud and crystal)
I do notice a lot of people of PS purchased an Idealscope to evaluate the light return of the diamond. Although I know HCA and Idealscope go hand in hand, but ultimately, people say Idealscope rules over HCA. In my case, do you think it is necessary for us to purchase an Idealscope to evaluate this diamond before it is set? I have not appraised this diamond but showed to a few jewelers to verify the authenticity and the GIA report. Actually, we do not plan to appraise it since we tried to save some money towards our wedding, especially after we made this very expensive purchase. We try to save wherever we can.
