Did anyone do their own DJ/Music/Announcer?
I am not paying for a DJ - though I know I would want one to help things "move along" I just cannot fathom paying that much for such little service (I dont know about other places, but seattle area prices are outragous).

With that said - How did you set up the music, and who helped make annoucements?
Did you wish you did something differently?

Is there a coordinator at your venue that can do this? Our venue strongly recommended we have a professional do the announcements otherwise it can sound amateur - we originally were going to have our dads do it until we heard this, then we gave the job to our DJ.

How many announcements do you plan on having? If you have a guest that is comfortable and practiced with public speaking, you could potentially ask them to do it. Our DOC made our announcements for us, but I honestly had just planned to do it myself before she refused to let that happen.

I hadn''t thought of this. I am trying to remember, and the last few weddings I have been to did not have an announcer. Mini thread jack (hope it''s ok Jcar!), but if I am having a laid back, appetizer only wedding, do you think I really need one?

Thread jack on/Katamari - I love your avatar and that game! Hilarious!/Thread jack off.

I don''t plan to hire a dj. I was just going to have playlists on my Zune and go with it (one for dinner, one for dancing,etc.). I too, am hoping to find a willing friend or relative who can change up the music as needed. I also don''t plan to have a grand march, so what announcements are really needed?

If you feel like you need announcements and don''t want to pay, make sure you get someone who 1. won''t get drunk and 2. won''t be nervous. Then you should be ok as long they know ahead of time what to say.

That was kinda what I was thinking exactly. And if I decide I do want to announce who my lovely maids and men are, it would be more meaningful if I did it myself.
