Wedding DIY Menu's

Hello!

So I'm making DIY Menu's for an engagement party.

I bought the paper that I'm going to be doing them on but I'm sort of lost as to where else to go. They're thicker than regular paper but nonetheless the same measurements as printing paper. Do you think a laser printer will be able to handle the job? My dad is saying that he doesn't think the laser printer will be able to print on that kind of paper but I'm thinking it will. Thoughts/advice please!

how thick? also does the paper package say anything about being able to print or not print?

Not crazy thick. Maybe 1mm thicker than regular printing paper...


I bought it at Michaels...so no package

Yes. My little ink jet printed some pretty thick invitation paper without any trouble. Does it have a tray in the back so it can feed straight in (rather than having to bend from the bottom tray)?

Do you have enough paper to test a sheet? You don't even have to test it with a menu. Just write a bunch of random letters and see if there are any issues.

Just tested it out...the printer doesn't even want to take the paper in...no go

Try FedEx Kinko's or Office Depot. They should be able to help, but call first and ask if they'll print using your own paper!

I printed my DIY invites at Office Depot. They were on 110 lb cover stock (pretty thick) & I called ahead to make sure they could print it for me. Their reply, "As long as it's not glossy or textured, we can print on it." I would suggest, letting them print 1, then looking at it to see if changes need to be made (for example, some of my invites were a bit better because the girl "darkened" up the image). good luck!

for my save the dates, i did have it on a memory stick. they formatted it to four to a page & printed them in color. the print quality was great but that time i used their card stock & it just wasn't really heavy enough for me. the invites, i had printed out b/c they had a small hand drawn detail & were black & white; these for the most part printed out great (on a few the text could have been darker but you wouldn't know unless comparing them) & a brought in my own pretty darn heavy cardstock. so, either way they should be able to do it

If you go to Office Depot or Kinko's, make sure your fonts are ones that they have in their computers, or convert your document to a PDF. That was a last minute hassle that I sure didn't need back then.

I was worried about the very same thing. I'll have to figure out how to convert the file into a PDF

In Word you can save as a PDF (it just shows up as a file option when I go to Save in Word 2007), or alternatively you can use something like CutePDF.
