im sorry your friend is going through a real rough patch. Its very kind hearted of you to think of her and want to do something nice. although gifts are lovely and delightful, i feel that in addition to something thoughtful, some quality time on the telephone or skype/zoom, might be a nice salve for heart.

Thanks to everyone who's replied so far. We talk every day or so now and she seems to be doing a little better. (He's a d*ck anyway and I'm glad he's gone! But I am trying hard to just listen, not give unsolicited advice).
