I am getting a princess cut diamond and am wondering what are the dimensions that make a princess cut diamond really pop. I saw the tool for rounds but am wondering about princesses. Any help would be appreciated.

Unlike the round the princess shape has too many rows of facets to go by numbers.

GIA does not rate the princess shape for cut quality, but AGS labs does.
I'd find a princess that AGS gave their top cut grade to, AGS 0.

That or I'd buy a branded cut like Whiteflash's ACA princess cut or the Solasfera brand of princess cut, which is sold at Good Old Gold.

Dimensions tell you nothing about a princess. For top cut stick to AGS0 princesses.

Here are some: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/?CaratFrom=1.01&CaratTo=15.00&Cut=TrueHearts&PriceFrom=200&PriceTo=999000&Sort=Carat%20asc,%20DefaultOrder&showAdvanced=show&Polish=&Symmetry=&Lab=AGS&Flour=&DepthFrom=45.0&DepthTo=80.0&TableFrom=50.0&TableTo=83.0

Something like this: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/1.21-carat-g-color-vs2-clarity-sku-369911

Ask for an ASET image.

(incidentally High Performance Diamonds has fantastic Princess AGS0's as well).

The best tool for a princess is YOUR EYES!

Princess cuts come in many flavors, from lifeless lumps of crystallized carbon to stunning little headlights.

Sadly, very few princess cuts have much fire. A little if you are lucky, but rarely will you find one with lots of fire.

The nature of the cutting tends to result in a "crushed ice" look that has many tiny flashes of white light but only a few that fan out enough to be perceived of as fire. (In order for a ray of light to be perceived of as fire, or dispersion, it must be wider at the pupil of the eye than the pupil. If it is not, the entire ray will enter and be perceived of as white light.) This is especially true of princess cuts under 2 carats that have three, four or five pavilion mains. as the more pavilion mains, the smaller the average flash and the less chance of seeing fire.

Thus, you will need to look at many princess cuts until you decide which flavor your eyes prefer.

Wink - is Infinity cutting princesses again!?

They were the only one-stop-shop resource for well-cut two-chevron princesses... the reports for the two currently for sale at HPD are dated 2008 and 2010 - and looks like neither are the usual two-chevron variety. That would be huge news!
