Hi all,

Knowing nothing about diamonds a few months ago, I have spent extensive time on this site and find it to be a fantastic reference and knowledge base. I have finally found a diamond, that on paper, meets my criteria and I will be taking a look at it later this week. The only thing that has me raising an eye on the cert. are the measurements: 6.81x6.89 This difference is larger than what I have generally seen. Should this be a concern? For reference the rest of the diamond stats are:

1.21
VS2
table 57%
depth 61.3%
crown 35%
pavilion 40.8%

Hi Teryx,

The diameter variance is fine actually, nothing to be concerned about. The variance is a little more than many of the super tight diameters we often see on diamonds which are cut to the very strictest standards, but still within acceptable range. I would be more concerned about getting an Idealscope image to see how well these crown and pavilion angles work together, can you get one from the vendor?

What are the polish and symmetry grades and girdle thickness please? I take it the diamond is GIA graded also?

Am I the only one here who can''t ever see the number "1.21" without hearing "Doc" screaming in my ear "1.21 GIGAWATTS!!!"?

Now that I got that out of the way -- don''t worry about the difference in the diameter measurements. It''s really negligible.

Hi Lorelei,

It is a GIA cert ex/ex/ex. Girdle thickness is med-slightly thick. Top is basically completely clean of inclusions with a number of feathers on the bottom. I will have to check to see if an idealscope is available when I go in to have a look. Thanks for the feedback.
