Hi,

What's the difference between

http://www.americangemsociety.org/newhandheldaset.htm

and

Garry Holloway's one

http://www.ideal-scope.com/cart_zoom_item.asp?Id=23&ShowAdd=Y

I noticed that the AGS's ASET has a thicker red band and thinner green band. Does this improve the image? Having used Garry Holloway's ASET scope, I find it difficult to get consistent results under different lightings and the way I aim the scope. In most lighting conditions, Garry's ASET show greens that are difficult to tell apart from the other colors.

for example, the greens look at best like this picture from GOG.

Anyone used the AGS scope before? Is it any better?

I know that its only $25. I normally won't even bother to ask a question and just go ahead to make a purchase. However, the shipping fees is ridiculous. $80! The shipping costs 3 times that of the scope. I want to garner more opinion before throwing money down.

Sonny.

If you are looking for a round get an idealscope. Not an ASET.

intending to use this for fancies. I already have the ideal scope. With regards to the ASet, i had used it in a store from the jeweler. He's using the one that garry is selling. But i would like to own one as well.

So, what's the difference between the 2? anyone used both before?

Can you get in touch with Gary? I'm sure he'd know.

hi gypsy,

how do i do that? The contact email on ideal-scope is mend by sales staff. I tried to contact AGS on this. instead of answering the question on the diferences, i get linked to a pdf file on what aset is. :|

Should i contact him Via private message? or can you pm me an email i can use?

I have both. The trick to using either of them is to have a good backlight source (like ideallight) and to make sure the scope is on a flat level surface and that the diamond girdle is level and in line with the scope as well as the diamond.

If you are picking up the diamond with tweezers balance them on the bottom of the scope. The tweezers should not be moved further inside the scope or you will not get a proper image.

Both do the same thing and one is not better than the other, I find the Ideal-scope.com one easier to view with the Ideallight but the AGS one is easier to photograph as it has a bigger aperture.
