Difference in color

Is there a dramatic difference from a "G" color to an "I" ?Are "I"''s not good color? I m only thinking of looking at I''s because its more in my 1 carat price range. I read that you should not go below a "H" somewhere.

eh- you do what you want! there is no rule! Personal opinions- if you are doing an emerald cut, I'd never do an H. Generally- I prefer to stick to G. I can definitely tell a diff immediately between a G and I...a G and H for that matter...face up. But I've been told you can go lower in rounds than in fancy shapes. So I would probably do an H in a round if it had an excellent cut. Also- if you are setting in yellow gold, I'd even do an I !!!
