Difference between emerald cut and baguettes?

I am considering an alternating bar set round/emerald cut wedding band and am confused about the difference between emerald cuts and baguettes.

I understand that emerald cut is a more complex cut with more faceting and hence more sparkle. Is this correct?

pretty much. More facets and I think a different "style" slightly.

An Emerald Cut is actually an octagon. A rectangle with beveled corners
A baguette is a rectangle ( or square)

The difference is in the corners= baguette has 90 degree corners.
