hello all,
i''ve been reading ps now for about the past 2 or so months and it has proven most valuable in my search for the perfect diamond! Thankyou all for your helpful comments.
I''d just like to get a few opinions on a loose old european cut stone that I have recent purchased. It''s specs are
1.24ct, G colour, VS2 clarity with a GIA certificate. It has a 47% table and a 66% depth. The stone appears sparkly to my eye and has a tonne of fire and I am generally very happy with it. The price I paid was $6550USD and I was hoping for a bit on input on this in particular. Does it seem like a reasonable price to pay for a stone with these specs?
I am also about to take this stone to be looked at by an independant appraiser. Is there anything in particular that I should be seeking from an appraiser? I guess the two things that I myself would like to get from the appraiser are
1) is the stone indeed the one described in the certificate and does it match in terms of its colour, clarity, carat etc
2) is the price I paid a reasonable price
Is there anything else in particular that I should seek? It seems to make more sense to me to get a valuation on the entire ring and diamond when it is finished (I plan to set this stone into an engagement ring).
thanks!
