Hi All,

I''m new to this whole diamond buying engagement ring process. I went to the diamond store & got a quote for a diamond. I like to know what you all think? Is it a decent deal? A go ahead? According to the salesperson it''s a GIA certified diamond. Here is the info I wrote down from the report the salesperson showed me.

Shape: Round
Measurement: 6.38 - 6.49 x 3.93 mm
Weight: 1.00 carat
Depth: 61.1 %
Table: 58 %
Girdlge: Medium, Faceted
Culet: None
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Clarity: VS1
Color: G
Fluorescence: None

The price after some hours of talking is $6240 for the diamond itself.

Thank you all in advance!

Hi and welcome to PS

If you can supply us with the crown and pavillion angles that will help us......

If you can supply crown and pavilion angles, it would be great...

BUT for me I already see some red flags that would probably prohibit me from buying this stone. The spread in the diameter mm range is too large for me. From 6.38 to 6.49? That''s somewhat of a large range for a round diamond IMO. I prefer something more like 6.47-6.49. Also, a well-cut 1c diamond will be about 6.5mm as an average. So this has a 6.49 max but the min is well under 6.50mm at 6.38.

Lastly, I don''t love the VG VG but if all other specs were fab then I''d be more okay with that I guess.

Honestly, I would say no. I did a quick search for a 1ct diamond here on the Search By Cut engine and I came up with several really lovely stones WAY LESS then 6240 with bigger spreads, and great cuts. WF 1.03 4509$ and if you have to have the G/VS they are there as well. Though I would strongly recomend you look at some SI1/2 here as you can see from the pictures many of them are compleately eye-clean and a great deal less expensive. HTH.

HI...

I agree with matatora''s advice....I just bought a Round H SI2 from Whiteflash and this stone is sooooo eye clean and amazingly sparkly. I put my SI2 next to my sister''s VVS1 stone (which is amazing) and the quality looks the same to us both. You just have to make sure that it is truly Eye Clean.....I trusted the Whiteflash people when they told me that it was.....and they were 1000% correct...I can''t see anything....

Also...my stone has VG Polish and VG Symm. and HCA score of (1.5)...the Polish and symm. values may not be favored by all but for us it was just right!

Also....the price you were quoted but too high.....check out some of the online vendors....

Good Luck
